20.01.2022 MEET THE TEAM MONDAY - SENIOR SCHOOL EDITION Mrs Andrea Tuchlei, Senior School Teacher - Years 10 to 12 in Research Project, English and Society and Culture and Cross Disciplinary Curriculum Leader. I believe wherever God leads, He provides. In Proverbs, Solomon tells us to ‘Trust in the Lord with all [our] heart; [and] not depend on [our] own understanding. [To] seek His will in all [we] do, and He will show [us] which path to take’ (3:5-6). For me, that path has led me back... to Tyndale - this time as a teacher, where I have the privilege of working with extraordinary young people who are caring, funny and inquisitive, and who regularly cause me to expand my understanding of the world. I am passionate about helping our students become lifelong learners and engage with learning outside the classroom. Our students gain an opportunity in Research Project to study in-depth an area of interest and develop research skills to benefit their future study, work, and life. I love seeing how students take ownership of their research and demonstrate an awareness of existing problems and how, through innovative and critical thinking, this leads to a greater understanding about themselves and society. In an ever-changing world and society, it’s important to me that my students learn to critically analyse real-world problems. In Society and Culture, students are exposed to a multitude of social injustice issues and explore the interactions of people, societies, cultures, and environments. Through collaborative investigations of social and cultural issues, I aim to create a respectful dialogue between students and help them develop an evaluative lens to explore strategies and possible solutions to address modern society’s challenges. My aim as an educator is to empower young people to ‘achieve what sometimes feels unattainable.’ Therefore, it is my responsibility and privilege to impart knowledge which will impact not only their academic studies, but also their personal lives. I have found teaching extends past the four walls of the classroom and enables our students to empathise, gain perspective and develop perseverance through adversity. #proudtyndalian #intentionallychristian #intentionallyexcellent #intentionallyinclusive #seniortyndalian
