25.01.2022 A little like waking sleeping giants from their slumber, "Jerry", "Marty", "Delilah" and "Elsie", the Erickson S-64 Air Crane helicopters, have now arrived int...o #Australia after their long voyage from #Greece aboard the BBC Chartering ship "BBC Leda". They join "Georgia Peach" and "Gypsy Lady" who are already in country. The arrivals will be established on the port at Geelong, Victoria prior to making their way to their operating bases in time for their contract starts during December in #Victoria, #SouthAustralia and #NewSouthWales. A MAMMOTH amount of work and planning has gone into getting the aircraft here this COVID impacted year, but the teams at Kestrel and Erickson Incorporated are getting the job done. 19.01.2022 Turn on your headlights! With rain and road spray a real issue at the moment, ensure your headlights are turned on. Don't hit puddles at speed and blind oncoming traffic with water spray. Maintain a safe distance - Wet roads offer less grip than regular surfaces, allow plenty of room to the car in front a five second gap is a good starting point in heavy rain. 11.01.2022 Today marks the 38-year anniversary of the devastating Ash Wednesday bushfires that occurred on February 16, 1983 Ash Wednesday is a day that we will never forg...et. A tragic day where 75 people died in ferocious bushfires across South Australia and Victoria. In Upper Beaconsfield alone, 21 lives were lost. 176 of the then 230 homes were destroyed (by comparison there are over 1,100 homes now), 92 sq kms burnt, 500 kms of fencing lost and approximately 1,000 cattle/sheep lost. 12 of those who perished in Upper Beaconsfield were volunteer fire fighters from the Narre Warren Fire Brigade CFA and Panton Hill CFA fire brigades who were working on a steep ridge in Critchley Parker Jnr Reserve near St Georges Rd when the wind change came through just before 9pm. Nearby localities including Guys Hill, Dewhurst, Belgrave South, Belgrave Heights, Narre Warren East and Cockatoo were also hit hard with many homes destroyed and the loss of a further 6 lives lost at the Cockatoo fire including one volunteer fire fighter from the Nar Nar Goon Fire Brigade - CFA fire brigade. Our thoughts are with the families and friends who lost loved ones on this day along with the many other residents and emergency workers who were deeply affected, many who still bear the scars and pain from the events of that devistating day 38 years ago. May those gone rest in peace and never be forgotton Please pause and take a minute to reflect at 8.50pm tonight

Two people were inside the boat at the time and were alerted to the fire due to a working smoke alarm. A timely reminder for all residents to ensure they have a working smoke alarm in their homes - it could save your life.

02.01.2022 Night Fire Aviation Program: Training Exercise 30 November 2020. Night Fire Aviation Aircraft will be conducting a training exercise in the Woori Yallock, Don V...alley area on the night of 30 November 2020. The exercise is planned to start at 6.00PM and conclude no later than 11.00PM. During this time you may hear helicopters operating in the areas of Don Valley, Woori Yallock and Wesburn. You may also observe a firefighting a helicopter dropping water in the quarry area to the North West of Don Valley. In addition to this you may also see firefighting appliances in the Woori Yallock and Don Valley area with emergency lights operating. There is no need for alarm as this is a training exercise only.
