12.01.2022 THE KING/QUEEN OF EXERCISES! Snatch grip barbell deadlifts (or in this case rack pulls - so that I don’t piss off the neighbours below me ) are one of my absolute favourite exercises of al time! . They are also KING when it comes to training the entire posterior chain. If you are unfamiliar with what the posterior chain is, well it’s basically everything that you can’t see when you look in the mirror. No wonder they call this the king of the exercises!... One thing about this exercise that makes it particularly difficult is the fact that the wider grip width translates into a lesser mechanical advantage. Which means your grip/forearms have to work harder to hold the bar; whilst your scapula retractor‘s, upper and lower back, glutes and hamstrings are simultaneously challenged. . Once you become proficient at these, you could even take it a step further and do them from a deficit. Which involves standing on a small platform or a plate and then lifting it off the floor increasing the range of motion making it even more difficult. (Follow me and I’ll demonstrate these in a video for you tomorrow - ‘cos they bare LOTS of fun! ) . However, this is a very ADVANCED exercise and NOT recommended for beginners! . Before attempting these, make sure you spend time perfecting your overall deadlift form, and begin practising these with the barbell elevated on a set of blocks or in the rack on a mid or low setting (like I am doing in the clip) whilst you are learning how to properly retract your upper back through the whole of the movement and keep it TOIGHT! #gym #fitness #instafit #fitspo #bootyworkout #motivation #weightloss #deadlift #fitnessmotivation #workout #exercise #smile #bodybuilding #iso #glutes #booty #lean #sweat

07.01.2022 If you got a MOP, you got a GYM! . Not taking no gym for an excuse, and getting creative with what I have and kicking on with some yielding isometrics training! . In a nutshell, this version of yielding isometrics involves pausing the exercise in the peak contraction position, where the muscle is most shortened. Holding on for dear life for 30 seconds like it owes you money, then kicking on into a working set of reps through a full range of motion. It’s great for increas...ing the mind muscle connection and stimulating mTor - which is like the light switch for your bodies anabolic response! . You saw my iso progress yesterday, yeah? So far, with gyms around the world closed down, one of the blessings of covid is how much it has made me grow both as a coach, and also as an individual. . 2020 for me has really taught me about the endless benefit of adopting a more stoic worldview. . I’ve only focusing on what is within my immediate control, never complaining with what fate or fortune deals me, and always being indifferent to everything - by that I mean resisting the temptation to slip into the reptilian brains way of seeing things in polarity as ‘good’ or ‘bad.’ Because in truth, they just neither - things just are as they are. . And with that I have only expanded my knowledge, increased my understanding and also become a more resilient person overall. . Because at the end of the day, things don’t just get better - WE get better! . #gym #fitness #instafit #fitspo #isoworkout #motivation #weightloss #melbourne #fitnessmotivation #workout #exercise #smile #bodybuilding #iso #fitnessmotivation #sweat

06.01.2022 The goal for this year, was initially to compete - but then COVID happened, so yeh...that’s that about THAT! . Since then, although the goal has still been to make any kind of progress whilst keeping @wbff_aust 2021 in my sights, or at least maintain, by any means possible. . If I must be perfectly candid with you; I don’t place too much value on how I look. ... . Sounds cliché, but hear me out: . A lot of my clothes are vintage. . I rarely spend anything on myself. . I can’t eat anything without getting food all over me - you literally cannot take me anywhere! . I hardly even brush my hair, I don’t even fucking moisturise (but I probably should) . There was a time when my physique defined who I was. These days it is something I do, it’s not who I am. I don’t want to sound corny, but I am being sincere, and I really do want to embody that philosophy that we are not what we look like, we are not our bodies; but we are what we think, speak and do - and that is what matters. . To embody our philosophy, not just speak it. To celebrate goodness; in ourselves and in others. To lead an honourable life, full of virtue. To embrace change, for it is the nature of all things. To let love be it’s own reward. . . #gym #fitness #instafit #fitspo #fatloss #motivation #weightloss #fitnessmotivation #workout #transformation #weightlossmotivation #transformationtuesday #exercise #love #smile #gratitude #happiness #iso #isoworkout #sweat #cardio See more
