21.01.2022 With the heat now upon us, we start to see an increase in the number of cooling related issues with vehicles. A number of factors contribute to this. Some of the components in your car use plastic as part of the construction. This includes your radiator. During the cooler months, the radiator doesn't see the extreme under bonnet temperatures that it does during summer. This increased temperature can expose weaknesses that develop overtime and result in an untimely leak! ... The hoses may have seen better days. The radiator hoses, heater hoses and other components that help shift coolant around your vehicle may have thin or weak spots and develop a leak. Even the clamps that secure everything, can start to underperform and therefore not quite keep everything together. Coolant is also a large factor in not only maintaining the cool of your vehicle (by raising the boiling point of the water), but it also acts as a inhibitor to reduce the development of scale and rust within the cooling system itself.
