22.01.2022 Our good friends, Craig and Karen Clatworthy from the 4WD Club of WA, have recently returned from a major adventure to Dirk Hartog Island, braving some near-hurricane conditions while there. When Craig dropped in for a visit this morning he was complementing his Cooper AT3 tyres. They have done 60,000 kms but are still in excellent condition, as the attached photos show! The Clatworthys didnt take enough punishment on this trip, so they are going back! Good on you Craig!

22.01.2022 We had a bit of a thrill this afternoon when Steve Gernhoefer, our super Cooper rep, came by in this beautiful, red, V8 Ford Mustang. One of these beauties is the prize in Coopers national competition running until the 12th of December. All you have to do is buy a set of four Cooper tyres, in any size or pattern, and register your purchase on line. How easy is that?! We would love to see one of our customers win this great prize. 21.01.2022 About 44,000 kms ago, one of our customers had these two 175/70R13 tyres fitted to the front of his little Accent. They have remained there for three years, being responsible for steering, driving and stopping the car under all conditions. Never being given a rest and never having had their operating pressures checked it seems, as all the tyres had only 22psi in them. While it is testament to the way that modern radial tyres can be abused without disintegrating in a puff of smoke, it is frightening how little care many motorists give to the things that can save your life ... or not as in this case!

18.01.2022 Ben was sick of the old 20 alloys that his Tritons previous owner had fitted to his 2005 GLX-R. He has wisely decided to fit some Cooper LT265/70R16 AT3s with Dynamic black sunraysia steel wheels. Looks great now Ben and will drive much, much better too!

18.01.2022 We love learning at Morley Tyrepower. This is a balancing technique which we have not come across before. We assume that the equidistant radial spacing of the weights is intended to give the finest control over the balancing. None of that primitive stuff of only putting weights in one position. Surely weight in one position would result in massive vibrations? You are never too old to learn!

18.01.2022 Its not often that one of Australias most famous Test cricketers comes into Morley Tyrepower for tyres but the great Bob Massie, the hero of the 1972 Lords Test, came in for some Toyos for his Camry today. Bob, in a masterful display of devastating swing bowling, took 16 for 137 and won the match for our team. Dennis Lillee took the other four wickets. Thanks for your patronage Bob!

17.01.2022 The Devereux family brought in their Patrol for a new set of Mickey Thompson 285/75R16 Deegan 38 M/T tyres today. Gettin ready for some serious 4WD action!

17.01.2022 We have just fitted up a set of the Starfire SF-710 all-terrain tyres in 265/65R17 size on a Triton. Starfire is the budget brand of passenger and 4WD tyres made by the Cooper people in their Chinese plant and I must say how impressed I am with the overall quality of the product. Many brands of tyres come to us with the beads so close together that we have to use a blaster to get them to seat. The Starfires came beautifully formed and looked fully inflated even before putting them near the rims! The tyres balanced up with very little weight required and were generally a tyre fitters dream to handle. If you are looking for some quality tyres at a budget price, give the Starfires a go!

15.01.2022 Our good customer Abs has been devoting much time and money to pimping his neat, black VW Caddy. Recently picking up a set of somewhat world-weary, 18 Golf GTi wheels off EBay, Abs asked if we could help him refurbish them. A week later and he had some beautifully restored wheels in gloss black and fitted with 225/40R18 Falken ZE914s. Happy Abs!

11.01.2022 Aiden is a great bloke, with a wonderfully optimistic attitude. He wanted to dress up his Prado with a new set of Cooper 265/70R17 AT3s and Allied Redback alloys, but the wheels were on long term backorder. Undeterred, we put on his Coopers in May and he waited patiently for the wheels to finally arrive only in August. We finally swapped his Coopers onto the new wheels yesterday and, as you can tell from the thumbs up and smile on his face, he is now very happy!

10.01.2022 Do you think that buying your tyres on-line can save you money? Thats what the internet tyre retailers will tell you. What they DONT tell you is that the tyres they send you may be so old that they should be scrapped, not fitted to your vehicle. As an example, please see what one unsuspecting customer received when he ordered some 215/55R16 Toyo Proxes 4 tyres on-line. The date on the tyres was the 24th week of 2012, which meant that the tyres were more than five years old! Fortunately for the customer, he discovered the age of the tyres, cancelled the order and got a refund. Dont get caught. Source your tyres from your friendly, local tyre retailer ... 08.01.2022 If you are thinking about maybe purchasing tyres on-line because the prices look so cheap compared to the prices your local tyre retailer is offering you, please consider why that may be. This recent warning from the Australian distributor of BF Goodrich tyres may explain why that might be. The on-liners source their stock from suspect sources overseas in the classic parallel import model and are NOT covered by BF Goodrich for their normal warranty. Dont take chances with your tyres. They are too important to road safety!

06.01.2022 Noel was wondering why the new front tyres on his hot Astra only lasted three weeks. He had made the decision to save a few dollars by NOT having a wheel alignment at the same time. OUCH!!! If you dont want to have your new rubber shredded, it is always sensible to get an alignment too.

06.01.2022 We had a customer this morning complaining about a wheel wobble. The poor front tyres on the little Getz have been dutifully driving around on its front tyres since the 39th week of 2011 (see the 3911 date window) and had long exceeded their useful, safe life. The tread on one tyre was so badly worn that the steel belts were exposed and the whole tyre was coming apart. Separated is the word we use to describe this dangerous condition.

06.01.2022 Ralph was looking for 265/60R18 all-terrain tyres to replace the OE tyres on his Wildtrak Ranger. We fitted a set of five of the brand new Cooper light truck 265/60R18 AT3s last week. Ralph came back today to tell us how happy he was with the tyres, particularly with how quiet they are on the road. Cooper has released the new iteration of the AT3, with features specifically designed to improve tread life, wet and dry grip and to make the tyre even quieter that the tyre was before. It was interesting that Ralph specifically mentioned this in his appraisal of the tyres!

02.01.2022 Wot ... me worry? These tyres are only on the back of this Mitsubishi Nimbus wagon, so why would anyone be concerned that the tyres were manufactured in 2004? I know, I know that wasnt 2004 BC, but it might as well be! These tyres are nearly 14 years old, for goodness sake. They should have been scrapped seven years ago. And the owner of the vehicle is about to drive to Kalgoorlie! Is this vehicle a liability to both the driver and other road users? What do you think?

01.01.2022 What is the single most important factor in ensuring long life and safe operation of your tyres? It is the correct operating pressure! The vehicle manufacturer puts a tyre placard on your car (usually on the driver side door or fuel filler cap). This tells you the correct size of tyre and the recommended cold pressure. Keep a cheap, simple tyre pressure gauge in your glove box and check your tyre pressures at least once a month. This simple check will ensure safe driving, longest tyre life and good fuel economy.
