25.01.2022 Pretty stoked with our 2 y old first calvers. Great pregnancy rates to Legend L77. Due 4/2/18 half have calved already. Perfect EBV's for heifers might get 70% from the AI. Second and third calvers start in a couple of weeks to our Edmund bull.

22.01.2022 Spring is looking pretty darn good. The dams are overflowing, creeks running. Garden and pasture looking fabulous. Our Regent bull and heifer calves growing at about 1.5-2 kg per day.

19.01.2022 I hate waving goodbye to my lovelies anytime, but this is at least short term . Central Victoria is so short of rain this season; my team Te Mania cows and their calves are headed to the high country; to Moondarra for the winter.

14.01.2022 Ecky and I took ourselves off to the Tatura dressage festival for 3 days and had a great time. Fabulous facilities, great friendly committee and dog races (whi...ch Ollie won one). Ecky was well behaved and pulled some of his best percentages yet and best of all got some lovely comments from the judges. 12.01.2022 Crazy busy times since my trip away. Autumn calves, yard weaned are now out on lush grass again growing madly. We've 5 terrific baby Bulls for next season. Preg testing shortly. Spring calvers doing well, a couple from Moondarra still to calve. 4 mares to foal down, M is still in a cast at AEBC resting. Here's some late pics from Mongolia.

05.01.2022 Oh such sweet success. Gotta love patience. 4 days ago this cow was trying to kill her baby, crushed my hand and was kicking with deadly intent. Thanks for the ...colostrum Henry! The principles of ESI and AEBC extrapolate beautifully across species. A length of poly pipe gently touching the flank and udder , removed only when she stops kicking and leaping, ( she might as well kick at poly rather than injure the calf!) and a handy dipper of horse pellets makes a huge difference. A tactfully placed open bottom side gate that I imagine hurts when you kick it ( rather than kick the calf) helps and means I dont have to worry about my timing from that respect. Oh and oxytocin is my friend. Once the kick from the poly stops, replace the tactile stimulus with the calf. Feed calf only in crush so the calf isnt punished for trying to suck until mumma starts to run milk when you go near the calf. Food reward good behaviour from mum . Bingo. See more

04.01.2022 Despite the dry, hot summer weve had a good start to our autumn calving. Nearly half way through and official start was yesterday. Well have some lovely bulls... and heifers for sale from our AI program using semen from Te Mania Garth, Tuwharetoa Regent BNA D145, Lawsons Dinky Di, and our own Moondarra bred MCP1598 . We collected from him last year and have frozen semen available for sale to produce low birthweight short gestation calves. Beautiful temperament and great growth rates. See more
