24.01.2022 Hello, I would like to speak to everyone in the Maranoa at this time about the community disruption facing Australia from Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Maranoa is a very strong community and in my opinion, its greatest strength is its people. Unfortunately, problems arising from concern in the community often affect the most vulnerable people in our society first. If you know anyone in the community who is struggling to find basic items, or has other issues, please contact me a...nd I will put them in contact with someone that can help, or I will reach out to the community to ask for help. A vast majority of people in the community are willing to help people in need, and we need to stick together to help each other through this and come out stronger on the other side. Best regards, Tyson Golder

17.01.2022 Hello, I believe Unity Maranoa is the ultimate in transparency and honesty. It is independent candidates with a plan. Rates freeze, operating locally, better r...oads and an operating surplus. The feedback that I’ve had from residents is that it is very hard to really know what candidates think before they vote for them. From what I have seen, there has always been blocks or groups of candidates in local government, they never say it in an election, but are very firm with their view afterwards. Unity Maranoa is the ultimate transparency on four major issues facing the Maranoa, so we don’t have I thought they would work with you. In ten years, rates have gone up approximately 140%. The affordability of living in the Maranoa has been affected by council’s decisions, and I would like to bring back affordability. I have been mayor for four years and have been subject to a lot of confidential information from residents, rural industry and businesses. It is my view that we have rates stress and it is affecting the attractiveness and growth of the Maranoa, which is affecting quality of life, health and jobs. Best regards, Tyson Golder

17.01.2022 Hello everyone, Thank you for the overwhelming amount of comments that I have personally received about the need for a community cinema. In regard to concerns about whether or not it would need to be subsidised, the cinema would solely be operating for the enjoyment of the residents of the Maranoa. All of our parks are subsidised, all of our pools are subsidised, and all of our facilities are subsidised. I believe the best return on investment for ratepayers is how much it... gets used by the people of the Maranoa. The community cinema would also enable us to give Mitchell, Injune, Surat, Wallumbilla and Yuleba community cinema on the weekend. This model already works, and it increases people going to the movies and has many positive social benefits. I am confident that if people knew everything that council subsidises, they would be 100% supportive of this initiative. If we want the Maranoa to be somewhere people want to visit, move to, and raise a family, we need to have many varied things to do. A cinema should be just one of many attractions to increase the quality of life in the Maranoa. Thank you, Tyson Golder

14.01.2022 Hello, Operating locally will mean that council has your back. It will still be Maranoa Regional Council, but with a focus on a slow transition back to local areas looking after themselves. This will mean that residents and businesses will have someone to talk to if they are not happy with their services, would like to see something improved, or are just passing on local knowledge. ... Operating locally eliminates red tape by having a structure where the community can talk to their local manager who has the power to fix their issue. These are generally small issues but are extremely frustrating to the residents of the Maranoa. If it is a larger problem, the manager can take it directly to council meetings on behalf of the resident. It is important that council staff also have a working relationship with the local manager in order to identify inefficiencies and smarter ways for council staff to run the local budget. Operating locally means more roads and services get delivered for the same budget because council is on the ground, and staff are listened to. As mayor, I have been watching for four years, and because of this experience I know that operating locally is vital for the future of the Maranoa. If we’re serious about increasing attractiveness and liveability, I've had many residents with various business backgrounds agree that this the common-sense approach for the future of the Maranoa. Best regards, Tyson Golder
