20.01.2022 Wednesdays just got a whole lot better. Another great meeting with the Ubelong team. Despite work, family, uni and HSC commitments we manage to meet regularly in this strange time to grow the message of Ubelong. Thank you team, for your ongoing commitment to creating a platform for all young people! Special shoutout to Ali from All In It Solutions for his engaging IT presentation. #bigthingscoming #ubelong #advocacy #youthpower #belonging #inclusion #socialjustice #covid19
20.01.2022 My inspiration has always been from my experiences of direct and in-direct racism, mainly in my school life, whether it was other students, teachers and the school principal, the racism felt by students is being swept under the carpet and denied. My values start with equity for all. The NSW Department of Education and School leaders need to do more in this space. Real action is needed! #YouthActionNeeded... #HarmonyDayIsNotEnough #uBelong #uBelongHere #AntiRacism #StopRacismInSchools See more
19.01.2022 We on board the Louise Michel believe we are all individuals, nationality should not make a difference to what rights one has and how we treat each other," it says on its website. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-bristol-53949831
17.01.2022 Me: Im from Sydney Them: but where are you really from? Me: do you mean my ancestors? This innocent question stems out of curiosity, but also implies that people who don’t have white skin or blonde hair can’t call Australia home or couldn’t possibly have grown up here or in my case born here. ... I’ve been asked this a lot, and no matter how many times it happens, I still feel the brunt of the perpetual foreigner experience. There’s usually a sense of othering, the idea that you’re not from here, that you dont belong here. We need to change our language, be clear, are you asking about ancestors, cultural heritage or background? Are you asking which city they were born? Or where they grew up? Be clear with your language. #WeAllBelong #uBelong #WeAreDiversity #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBeAboriginalLand

01.01.2022 Australians who fly home from India risk jail. To my Australian friends of Indian background, I’m so sorry and ashamed. - a fundamental right of a citizen to enter his/her own country has been abandoned by the Australian government. This is an emergency and they are Aussies or are they getting a different treatment from the Australian government because of their background? Shame Why aren't we using our armed forces to assist in evacuating people?? If we can move soldiers ...en masse we can help returning citizens. I wonder if this will force our fellow Aussies stranded to seek asylum in another country soon (sarcastic voice) https://www.google.com.au//ne/world-australia-56953052.amp
