09.01.2022 Hey, hope you all had an amazing Easter and wishing you all the best with your assignments and revision. The Debating & Public Speaking Society is conducting elections for the 2018-2019 academic year exec team. The positions available are...... President (signatory position) -Manages and coaches the exec team. -Leads the society direction. Vice President (signatory position) - Supports and covers in the President's absence to maintain effective teamwork and direction of the society. Secretary (signatory position) -Contact the members weekly informing them of the next session plans -informing exec of any union matters needing to be dealt with -taking the minutes of exec meetings. Treasurer -Create a budget -Complete forms for reimbursements -Knows the state of accounts. Events Officer -Plan and organise events such as competitions with the help and support of the exec team. Public Relations Officer -Promote the society physically (e.g. posters) -Manages social media platforms Expect there to be a handover to assist the new exec to fulfil their role. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me Ismael Jaffery at [email protected] Elections will take place on the 16th of April online. You will get the opportunity next week to speak up why you should be voted for the role. You will have to nominate yourself online at some point and will have to write down why you are going for this role and what you will do. It's a fun job and you get to learn a lot. It's a new experience and something to put on your cv. Don't worry about experience requirements as there is support out there to train you. This year, the entire exec were untrained and we managed to get shortlisted for "Society of the Month" on our first month.
