18.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day, a day marked to remember the Stolen Generations. Sorry is an important ongoing step on our nation’s healing journey. As followers... of Jesus, may our love and our sorry be not only in word but in actions and in truth (1 John 3:18). We call for the recommendations of the Bringing Them Home Report (1997) to be implemented in full, particularly recommendations 3 and 4 which reference the need for reparations and compensation for survivors of the Stolen Generations and their families and communities. As per recommendation 3, Reparation should consist of: 1. acknowledgment and apology, 2. guarantees against repetition, 3. measures of restitution, 4. measures of rehabilitation, and 5. monetary compensation. Please join us tomorrow as we enter National Reconciliation Week where we will be led by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Leaders exploring Treaty and Truth Telling for Healing Country. Bring your hands, feet, mind, heart. Bring your listening, your learning, your love. #NationalSorryDay
