24.01.2022 Engage Together Advent 2020 Worship leaders - are we willing to do things a little differently and create a space that welcomes others? Have a look at the beautiful intergenerational advent worship resources below: https://sa.uca.org.au//res/Engage-Together-Advent-2020.pdf This Advent resource is designed to assist and inspire churches with ways to adapt element of a worship liturgy to be more intergenerational during Advent (Nov 29 Dec 20, 2020). The resource is based on the lectionary readings but the ideas can be adapted to suit any Bible/theme focus.

24.01.2022 The power of story, of being with and on country, of being connected to God's ancientness in the First People's of this land. The invitation and challenge of NAIDOC week this year, is to hold as truth that we are on country that always has been and always will be Aboriginal Land. When we gather, beginning our time with an acknowledgement of country speaks this truth - every single time. Take a few minutes and share in the story of the coming together, of the learning to walk together, of hearing painful stories, of seeing deep deep connections. . . .

23.01.2022 A Wednesday wondering . . . .it's nearly Advent. In this little video there are some things to help us think about the time of Advent. As you wonder after, wonder about how you experience JOY in the waiting. Wonder about how you might add meaning to the waiting. You might like to join and participate in the Photo a Day group linked with the Tasmanian Presbytery - it's called Seasonal Photo a Day. I wonder what this time of waiting and preparing might be for you this season . . . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC0FGQLBp7w

22.01.2022 A Wednesday wondering . . . .Grace says that we are enough. When you come into the presence of God, grace says we are enough. What is your gentle image of grace? What is your porch swing? Who holds out to you and incarnate grace? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ-QFOqp9TE

20.01.2022 A prayer for today and a hope to hold. But more than that how are we advocates and justice participants in this country for those who seek safety from other lands . . .

19.01.2022 Two more opportunities for young adults you know to participate in the alternative approach for National Young Adult Leaders Conference with the Assembly. NYALC. Details in the link. https://uniting.church/nyalc-online/

19.01.2022 News from the wider church - change to Assembly gathering scheduled for July this year in Qld. A shorter time over zoom is now being planned with the hope of a follow up face to face gathering next year. Please pray for those who are planning, and bringing together this space of our church life. National gatherings of our church are responsible for things like how we organise ourselves, our broad sense of understanding God and the language/s we might use to describe that understanding. Setting standards for specified ministries. And our partnerships in the ecumenical and world space. This is just a few key areas. More information about the change can be found here . . . https://uniting.church/16th-assembly-goes-online/

17.01.2022 Look what’s now available . . .

17.01.2022 Online Lenten Journey - a small group engaging with story and images in an online forum through Lent. A presbytery wide invitation to participate. For zoom details contact Denise Savage.

12.01.2022 Advent is not far away . . . . a resource that can be used and adapted across generations, in homes and community . . . .in a year that is strange, what will help remind us of Christ's presence? https://www.rootsontheweb.com//86-countdown-to-christmas.p

12.01.2022 A Wednesday Wondering: As you engage with this clip think about the people and places, the interests and passions you have in life. How might they may be connection points with the wider community? How might you be, do and speak into those connections points as a follower of Christ? I am reminded of a member of one of the congregations in the southern part of Tasmania where her passion for cats and showing cats means that as she has interacted in that space over a long pe...riod of time, she is a trusted caring friend who people know they can go to when life gets hard. She has been asked to pray for people as through difficult health challenges by members who don't believe God can be part of their life. Think too about the comment from Dave Andrews - " We're not called to legislate our morality and impose it upon people, but we're called to come alongside people in the midst of their struggle and support them . . . ." I wonder what the video clip might prompt in you as the Spirit works away in your life . . . . https://vimeo.com/446327585 See more

11.01.2022 Some photos from yesterday's thanks-giving service at New Norfolk Uniting Church, led by Rev Denise Savage and Rev Fee Morrison, with recollections shared by generations of participants, local leaders and former ministers.

10.01.2022 Today is Mabo Day and comes as Reconciliation Week comes to its end. Alison Overeem offers this reflection for us to consider, contemplate, challenge and change in the work of justice transformation for the lands now called Australia. Alison Overeem - Leprena: UAICC Tasmania Mabo day 2021... That legal concept, known as "terra nullius", stripped Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of their traditional rights to their lands and attempted to sever connections to cultures dating back 65,000 years June 3 marks the momentous victory to overturn that precedent in the High Court and honours the legacy of the man behind it Eddie Mabo. 07.01.2022 This week we enter NAIDOC week. How shall we continue to listen to the stories of First Peoples? Take this week to be intentional in listening, learning, and connecting deeply because this land always has been Aboriginal land. A land of an ancient peoples.

07.01.2022 The Presbytery gathering today engaged with some good news stories. Gospel shared with us the story of the young people who lead worship at Wilmot when they first came together following Covid restrictions. We also were able to celebrate together the voice of our hearts as the Chin Choir shared a song with us. Jeremy from Uniting shared with us how Uniting were able to adapt and move with Covid and what that meant for the many services they provide to Tasmanian's who find life challenging for various reasons. The joy and delight of hearing stories where as a church working together, we make a difference in the lives of others. What else can we share about the day together . . . . .

05.01.2022 How do we view the Table . . . . . who is present and who is not around the table where we break bread together? Do we need to move where we gather around the Table? Are we guarding it? Are trying to stop all who have been invited? Are we servers, guest, resident or outside still? When the bread is broken do we imagine the divine hands of Christ breaking it, do we imagine that it is Christ who we are in company with as we are present to the Table. Do we see past the human faces of each other, to touch the Holy Spirit that we each bear within? Or do we believe something different to the words we say . . . . . The Table is a challenging one, a healing one, a celebrating one, a wholling one, an open one . . . . an invitational one, and we are not the invitation issuers . . . . .
