22.01.2022 Congratulations to the Ulverstone District Cricket Club Inc, Runners Up for the 2019/20 Community Cricket Club of the Year. The Ulverstone District Cricket Clu...b has been a decorated club for many years, traditionally boasting a strong senior cohort and hardworking volunteers. It is with this backbone that the club has been able to develop greatly in recent times to now host programs for men and women, boys and girls of all ages. The club has seen an increase in participation across all levels of cricket at the club in 2019/20, with a main highlight being a new Girls Under 14 Development Team to compliment their already sustained under 17 girls, Second Grade Womens and Womens First Great outfit. Additionally, the club has been one of few clubs to generate a boost across Woolworths Cricket Blast, resulting in 57 new cricket participants at the regional club. The Ulverstone District Cricket Club has also continued to grow its Hurricanes Junior League competition which has now completed its 30th year! The competition hosts local schools from the north west coast town, allowing boys and girls to play locally before moving into club junior cricket. This effort has been critical to the clubs success in engaging local schools and the community as is a testament to the volunteer efforts in the club to continue such a fantastic product. Finally, in the last 18 months the cricket club has been successful in upgrading its facilities, with the addition of a brand-new indoor cricket centre. The centre has not only improved the functionality of the club but provides a fantastic advertisement to the community as well allowing Cricket Tasmania to run North West Hurricanes representative programs all year around! Congratulations to UDCC for continued success in 2019/20, and providing opportunities to families to play, support and enjoy cricket in Tasmania. See more

14.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS to both 1st Grade and 2nd Grade for making the Cricket North West grand finals to be played this coming weekend. 1st Grade defeated Devonport Orions today in a real nail-biter! Batting first yesterday, Ulverstone struggled their way to 144 , with Will Dau topscoring with a gutsy 27, Josh Walmsley 24 and Brayden Devries 19 rounding out the top three run-scorers. Will Dau and Matt Talbot (14) added valuable runs at the tail,, taking the score from 8/97 to be al...l out for 144, what proved in the end a match winning effort. Devonport started well late yesterday, and were 1/67 at stumps. Runs were hard to come by today, and Devonport also struggled with the bat, taking the score to 7/113 but looked to be in control. Bennett helped take the score to 8/137 before being dismissed, with two batsmen left and needing only 7 runs. But Matt Talbot had other ideas! He had the dangerous O'Mahony out caught behind, leaving only 5 runs for a Devonport victory. Foggy chipped one over the keepers head for 4. One run to tie the score. Then Wham! Fogg was cleaned bowled by Talbot next ball, and victory was ours! A match winning effort by opening bowler Matty Talbot, finishing with enviable figures of 6/37. 2nd Grade's game was a different story. Ulverstone amassed 290 before being bowled out just before stumps on Saturday, with Dom Wing (78), Julius Kerwin (49) and Rohan Speglic (44) the top three batsmen. Devonport put up a good fight, but were eventually dismissed for 162 in the 74th over, with youngster Alex Waasdorp claiming 4/48 and the other wickets were shared around.
