23.01.2022 Time to get the boat planing! Just our luck that the summer weather arrives in Sydney as we ramp up business activity.oh well there’s still the weekend or we can just make the time! Happy New Year everyone and I hope you had a refreshing break ... Now to focus on a quick start to the year and get some momentum happening While the media drives feelings of chaos, I do get the feeling that many are just getting on with things and there’s a cautious optimism for what this year could bring. Some prompters to think about: Are you thinking of (and implementing) ways to grow your client base through expanding or innovating your offer? Can you dedicate resources more effectively, including your personal time, your team or new in-sourced resources? What is the best use of your time and how can you maximise growth-oriented activity across your business? How much time do you typically spend on those activities now? Are there key technology decisions you need to make in 2021? What are your priorities for this year, do you have measurable goals, and what changes would make the biggest difference for your business? It’s a great time to get serious about any planned or postponed changes to your business. Please feel free to take up the offer of a complimentary initial Discovery chat and Productivity Analysis via the link below - the worst thing that can happen is you start thinking more about what success looks like this year. You’ll have a better survey experience via laptop / PC. https://www.youexponential.com.au/productivity-healthcheck
20.01.2022 Quick process geek note: It is interesting to observe the continued decline in labour productivity growth - this is Australia's chart and 29 out of 30 OECD countries are experiencing something similar. There are debates about how 'output' (including value and utility) and inputs are measured. Certainly digitally-driven processes are easier to measure with productivity stats such as the time to completion (TTC: amount of time spent on the process) and turnaround time (TAT: duration of time it took to complete the task), yet they are only a time-based productivity measure without any qualitative consideration.
14.01.2022 the social dilemma is a very interesting documentary on Netflix (link below). While some of the revelations are disturbing and aligned to the heightened awareness of mega Tech firms' growing influence, the practical self-application is to moderate and balance your screen time with the many non-tech wonderful things to enjoy in life. My favourite quote from it: "There are only two industries that call their customers 'users': illegal drugs and software." Edward Tufte. https://www.netflix.com/au/title/81254224
05.01.2022 Great to see this article, which confirms the sum of the fundamentals: adviser numbers contracting, majors walking away from advice, population continuing to grow - huge opportunities for quality advice providers in the future https://www.professionalplanner.com.au//advice-demand-do/
