25.01.2022 I'm very happy to announce as Member for Arnhem that Gapuwiyak School and Ngukurr School CEC are each getting two new transportable classrooms! The classrooms, which have state-of-the-art IT connectivity, quality acoustics and air-conditioning, will be built in Darwin before being moved to their respective schools to replace ageing buildings.

25.01.2022 Congratulations to the women’s Arnhem Crows Football Club team for making it through to the grand final! It’s their first time in the Big Rivers Football league and what a fantastic season they have had. It was great to see all of the fans (young and old) on Saturday supporting the ladies play - these women travel far and wide to play in the team. Well done and all the best for the Grand Final in two weeks time!

24.01.2022 Big day here in Anurugu. Happy to be here with Chansey Paech MLA.

23.01.2022 Beautiful Groote. A night of music, art, culture, & coming together. So very special.

22.01.2022 Things look a bit different in 2020. This was the Joint Council Meeting for the National Agreement on Close the Gap. ‘Closing the Gap’ as a concept has been around for many, many years now, and I know some days it’s easy to question where we are on the journey of truly closing the gap. ... But that’s why I’m so proud of our Territory Labor Government for investing in our kids through programs like FaFT, investing in the bush through community-led housing, and for making Local Decision Making a priority - handing back power so communities can design the services they need the most. It means better outcomes for our communities, better opportunities for our kids, and a better, stronger Territory. As the Attorney-General and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, I know what we’re doing now will change the lives of future generations, and I could not be more proud.

22.01.2022 The 1966 Wave Hill Walkout was a watershed moment in Australian history, when the Aboriginal land rights movement was born. Yesterday, more than half a century after Gurindji stockmen went on strike, a Federal Court sitting held at the Jinbarak homestead handed Native Title rights over 5,492 square kilometres of Wave Hill Station to traditional owners. Many of the TOs present yesterday participated in the 1966 strike, as stockmen, domestic workers or as children. Congratulat...ions to the Jamangku, Japuwuny, Parlakuna-Palkinykarni and Yilyilyimawu land holding groups and their families of the Gurindji, Mudburra and Warlpiri language groups on this particularly special day. 20.01.2022 Congratulations to Western Arrernte man, Vincent Namatjira, who has just become the first Aboriginal artist to win the coveted Archibald Prize. His work, ‘Stand Strong For Who You Are’ is a portrait of himself with 2014 Australian of the Year, Adam Goodes.

19.01.2022 It was great to drop by and chat to Rachel at First Nations Broadcasting yesterday about my new portfolios and the recent Territory election. First Nations TV and First Nations Radio do a fantastic job getting news and entertainment out to all the Top End bush mob and it’s always a pleasure to chat to them.

19.01.2022 The Territory has some of the most beautiful art to offer in the world! I am honoured to represent some brilliant artists and art centres in the Arnhem Electorate and support buying local. I bought this gorgeous woven pandanus baby rattle from Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts Aboriginal Corporation - see the link to their website below in the comments section.

18.01.2022 Friday was dress like a Pirate day at Alyangula Area School to raise funds for cancer research. It was also the last day of barista training so I was lucky enough to get a hot chocolate and provide feedback to the school trainees. Thanks to Assistant Principal Noella for walking through the school again and new Principal Theo for his time. Well done to all of the staff and students for supporting such a good cause and making Friday an Aaaarrrgggh-right day

17.01.2022 This gorgeous little outfit was a handmade gift for baby Radiance made by the very talented Jill Emerson-Smith of Sew-wot Designs in Mataranka. It debuted at Government House with Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O'Halloran AO admiring Radiance and her outfit...which is a huge compliment as Her Honour always has fabulous fashion sense! Thank you Jill for the beautiful gift

16.01.2022 Check out this mob! These pics are from the launch of the first ever wet season basketball comp in Barunga. One of the best parts about being the Member for Arnhem is being able to help out some of our incredible community organisations - this time through whistles & timers! ... : Arnhem Crows Football Club

16.01.2022 Chansey Paech MLA and I just finished filming a video about how good university is for Territory high school students who have just graduated. We left out the fact that one of our favourite parts of University was going to Uni games... Happy Thursday!

14.01.2022 "Really proud of our government in the Northern Territory, that acted sooner rather than later to protect us all." Take a moment to watch this fantastic video from young Yirrkala filmmaker Siena, who documented the Yolngu experience with COVID-19. #lockdownstories

14.01.2022 I don’t even know where to start when it comes to FaFT. It is one of my favourite policies - because it’s a policy that at its very heart, means positive generational change. Families as First Teachers started with 3 sites in remote communities. It was so successful, that there are now 55 sites across the Territory, and it’s expanded into urban areas too. Tonight was so incredibly powerful - with more than a hundred FaFT educators and staff getting together to reflect on th...e power of Aboriginal women in leadership. It was a privilege to be on a panel with Ngaree Ah Kit: Member for Karama, Sally Scales and Bev Angeles. My greatest takeaway was this: The most important thing we can do as strong leaders, and as strong women, is to build the strength of those around us, and make sure we’re bringing them along with us on our journey of leadership. That’s the future. And that’s where our true power lies. Shaping the futures of generations to come.

13.01.2022 Werenbun visit this morning - looking lovely, green and lush with all this beautiful rain! A special thanks to Nigel for giving me a bag of home grown chillies!

13.01.2022 Our Territory Labor Government will declare a ban on seabed mining in the Northern Territory. It's wonderful news for our communities. We're protecting our seas to make sure future generations can enjoy our incredible waters and to make sure the worlds of fishing, aquaculture and tourism continue to thrive. ... Our Government is now working on putting the prohibition declaration in place. It means we can all make the most of what we love most about this beautiful place we call home.

12.01.2022 It was great to be back on Groote Eylandt again a week and a half after the NT election results were confirmed. Thanks to all the people, organisations and agencies I met with in Angurugu and Umbakumba for your time and for raising various issues. Looking forward to continuing to represent this lovely part of the Arnhem Electorate.

12.01.2022 Check out these new uniforms for NT Local Court staff! For the first time, they incorporate Aboriginal designs in the ties and scarves, with artwork from Mavis Nampitjinpa Marks, a Luritja Pintupi artist who lives between Haasts Bluff and Mt Liebig. They launched yesterday in Alice Springs and are being rolled out across the Territory.

10.01.2022 Our Territory Labor Government committed to building and upgrading houses & creating new living spaces in remote communities - and that’s exactly what we are doing. It was great to have a look at some of the new houses that are being built in Ngukurr.

09.01.2022 Incredible news for our electorate of Arnhem! The Territory Labor Government has introduced a Roadhouse to Recovery grant - and the first recipient is The Bark Hut Inn on the Arnhem Highway. All together it will undergo a $1 million refurb, with our grant supporting $150,000 of works. ... We are backing Territory businesses & supporting local jobs - and it means more people will stop, shop & experience life in Arnhem.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to the Arnhem Crows Football Club women’s team who won the premiership in the Big Rivers Football League. It’s their first time in the comp and what a way to take it out with the final score 93 - 21 beating Katherine Souths. Amazing job ladies and a big shout out to all of the coaches, mangers, water runners and everyone else who has supported behind the scenes to see this fantastic result!

07.01.2022 I had the opportunity to visit Darwin Correctional Centre as part of my new role as NT Attorney-General and Minister for Justice this week. It was very interesting to chat to Corrections Commissioner Scott McNairn, Deputy Corrections Commissioner David Thompson and Darwin Correctional Centre General Manager John Jones about the important work that goes on here.

06.01.2022 Local Decision Making is about empowering communities to lead the way. Today, the vision of the Groote Eylandt Local Decision Making Agreement signed 2 years ago - became a reality. This morning, I was honoured to launch the Groote Eylandt Community Justice Group, and the Groote Eylandt Cultural Rehabilitation Centre a centre that will be used as an Alternative to Custody. ... The Anindilyakwa Land Council have made a significant investment into building the centre - and our Territory Labor Government has committed to contributing funds to help run the centre as designed by the community. The Cultural Rehabilitation Centre is not a prison - but it is somewhere where individuals will be forced to reflect on their wrongs - and the negative effects their behaviour is having on their families and their communities. We know that prison isn't leading to the outcomes we so badly need here in the Territory, and this facility will be one where people can learn more about themselves and their families, and get access to the support they need to address the root causes of their offending and to turn their lives around and start making better decisions. These monumental achievements are practical examples of communities and Government working hand in hand - and it's just a glimpse into the change we will see as a result of the Aboriginal Justice Agreement. Today is a testament to strong leadership, strong voices, and Government listening. What was once a vision is now a reality. And the future is bright.

06.01.2022 It was great to visit the Larrakia Rangers yesterday, to announce the latest round of Aboriginal Ranger Grants recipients. Our Aboriginal Rangers do a terrific job on country to keep our environment healthy and to preserve culture for many generations to come. Our Labor Government has already delivered $12 million in grants to ranger groups and we will deliver a further $12 million over the next four years.

03.01.2022 It was lovely to see the Katherine Mayor Elisabeth Clark in Darwin at the Chief Minister’s Year Ahead speech. (And if anyone asks as Katherine locals no we didn’t coordinate our outfits )

03.01.2022 First Nations voices being heard and acted upon will make sure our Aboriginal Affairs strategy will be a success now and into the future.

02.01.2022 Some very special visitors came to Parli today. Incredible to meet some of the first cohort of high school graduates from Wadeye in 13 years. Such a huge achievement for these amazing young people - and a testament to the hard work and commitment of families, teachers & community. ... Of the 7 graduates, four of them have already commenced work at OLSH Thamarrurr Catholic College, one of them is commencing work at a bank, one of them is moving to Victoria, and one of them is working at a store in Peppimenarti. No one asked the Chief any hard questions either! Michael Gunner An inspirational end to the week. Happy Friday!

02.01.2022 It was wonderful to catch up with Rainbow Territory and the Sex Workers Outreach Project to talk about their amazing advocacy work. Last year marked our Territory Labor Government's historic passing of the Sex Industry Bill 2019 which decriminalised sex work. The NT is one of the only jurisdictions in the world to have decriminalised sex work - and it means workers now have access to the same workplace health and safety protections as other Territorians.

02.01.2022 There's no denying that the Territory's justice system as it stands has failed victims, offenders, and our communities. As Attorney-General, I will not be shying away from the complex challenge of bringing in reforms that ensure better outcomes for all Territorians. And it starts by addressing our unacceptably high rates of Aboriginal incarceration.
