20.01.2022 Featured book today is Samantha Muir's Classical Ukulele Method. Fifteen beautiful copies arrived today and two have already gone into the post! Why should I buy this book? Samantha says, 'This Method is suitable for self-learning or may be used with the guidance of a qualified and experienced teacher. The student with no prior musical knowledge or no knowledge of the ukulele can use this Method as a platform for learning. Topics covered include how to read staff notation and... tab, how to fingerpick, and how to understand basic rhythms and musical signs and symbols. Many exercises re offered as well as twenty-three repertoire pieces ranging from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Ecossaise by Carulli. The Method begins with simple melodies and progresses to playing arpeggios, playing chord melody arrangements and an introduction to playing campanela style.' What is not to love about all that? $38.95 + postage to your door. To order go to the website and complete the form. www.ukulelemusicaustralia.com See more

16.01.2022 Featured book for this 1st week of lockdown here in NSW! I have recently received 3 titles from Kevin Carroll. The first book for the dedicated ukulele player is Ukulele Ceilidh which has 18 traditional Celtic tunes arranged for ukulele in both notation and TAB. Although the natural tonal centre of a C6 ukulele is the key of C, Kevin has kept most of the music in its native keys of D and G. This way it will be easier for ukuleles to play with fiddles, tin whistles and other ...instruments at an Irish music ceilidh. There are also guides for Celtic strumming for the various rhythms: polkas, jigs and reels. The book is both Low and High G friendly! Cost: $45 + postage. Go to www.ukulelemusicaustralia.com to order your copy. You will have it within a week! You can also see examples of the pages in his books. It features 40 arpeggio exercises in 3/4 time and 60 in 4/4 time. The exercises are designed to improve right hand fingerpicking control and fluency. Each arpeggio pattern is introduced using only the open strings. This is followed by the same pattern but incorporating the... left hand through the use of basic chords. The exercises are written in both notation and tab. Cost $28 + $5.80 postage. Your book will be in the post the day you order it! See more

01.01.2022 What is an arpeggio? 'The music theory term arpeggio (or broken chord) simply describes when the notes of a chord are played one after the other rather than at the same time.'
