23.01.2022 A little known fact is that the structural strength of bamboo or wood plastic composite decking can be severely affected by temperatures over 40o Celsius, which can reduce its normal strength by up to 50%. This may have adverse effects, resulting in possible failure of the deck and injury. Currently in Australia there is no widespread awareness of such possible risk amongst the engineers and deck designers but in the USA, testing for thermal effect (the effect of heat) on com...posite decking is required by the U.S standards. This is why almost all composite decking sold in the USA is specified at shorter spans of around 12 inches (300mm) rather than the normal 16 inches (400mm). In Australia the normal span is 17 inches (450mm). All spans recommended by any manufacturer must perform efficiently at all temperatures (not just average room temperature) for that location or otherwise the span must be adjusted to suit the worst possible scenario. Ultim8 Deck is designed to maintain its structural integrity & performance in high temperatures over 40o Celsius over extended periods of time. Ultim8 Deck has been tested to perform to standards required by the Building Code of Australia (BCA) for flooring. Compliance to the normal timber decking standards is not sufficient enough to ensure safety of users as timber decking is not effected by temperature variations that composite decking is. The BCA which is building code law, requires that thermal effects (temperature effects) must be accounted for when designing a deck span. Compliance with regulations for your long- term safety is foremost in our thinking.

22.01.2022 Innovation doesn't always mean creating or inventing something from scratch. Innovation is more often than not, taking something that was always there to the next level or two. The horse and cart worked so perfectly (so everyone thought) that it took 5,000 years before someone thought of the automobile (car) as the next step. The mainstream thinking at the time was that the car was a passing fancy and that the horse and cart would never be replaced as the main mode of transpo...rt for the average person. They also said that about the telephone, aeroplane and space travel... We take what is working (usually already there in one form or another), identify what is not working & then ask ourselves what is missing, that if it were present would make a difference? Then most importantly, we ask ourselves if we could produce a product that had everything that was working, resolved what was not working and then added what was missing, what would be possible? Ask the questions that your competitors are not asking but your customers are or will in the not so distant future! 21.01.2022 MCX was created whilst the founder of the company, Sylvio Hennequin, was travelling around the world looking for new and innovative products for the company he worked for. As the Timber and Decorative Division Manager, responsible for a team of 100, travelling regularly to identify and source new products was very difficult indeed. Whilst it was more convenient to send other managers in his stead, he found that they didnt have the skill set and experience required to identif...y possible opportunities. Looking at things with new eyes is crucial to identifying, sourcing, developing and getting new products manufactured. Further discussions with other executives around the globe revealed they had a similar dilemma. There was an urgent need for companies to source innovative and creative new materials. This had to be done without having to employ costly specialists, or taking key team members away from their own core functions. Management needed to be freed up to work on the business. And so began... mcx See more

04.01.2022 The hidden cost of timber decking When it comes to building a deck, you need to look past the immediate outlay of buying, installing and sealing the deck. Any deck you buy will have some level of time and cost involved with the regular, on-going maintenance and cleaning costs. With timber decking, any sealer that is applied after installation has a limited effective lifespan. To maximise the life of the timber deck, it will need resealing a minimum of once per year, even twic...e per year in damp & humid, or hot & dry conditions. This can cost hundreds of dollars each time, when considering your time, and purchase of equipment and materials. The alternative maintenance plan, which a surprising number of people choose to adopt, is to only reseal their timber deck every few years, or to wait until the timber is grey, dry, and cracking! This can dramatically reduce the life of the deck, leading to splitting, cracking, rotting through moisture penetration, and ultimately to premature replacement of the deck. The real truth is that the majority of people who love the natural beauty of a timber deck just never seem to get around to regularly maintaining their timber deck and usually get around to it when it is already in need of heavy duty sanding and resealing, which means extra time and dollars. When using timber, you need to remember that regular maintenance is required to protect the decking from the elements, to get the most from your investment. The low-maintenance alternative is ULTIM8 Bamboo Composite Decking, as it requires no painting, sealing, or staining EVER! The time and money saved over the life of the deck can be significant, and can even pay for the cost of the deck! If you want a composite deck with a natural timber look and feel, instead of the imitation timber look and you want to save time and money every year for the life of your deck, consider using ULTIM8 Bamboo Composite Decking.
