25.01.2022 George Tjungurrayi is a senior Pintupi artist whose paintings draw on the country into which he was born and where he lives and works. The vast spaces of the Western Desert are captured in this painting. Tjungurrayi focuses on a claypan site north of Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay) as the main subject. It is a place associated with traditional healers ngangkaris and the painting alludes to their epic journeys across the land.

17.01.2022 Thomas and Walala joined the Papunya Tula artists, and they and Warlimpirrnga eventually gained fame internationally as the Tjapaltjarri Brothers. His paintings depict about places and events in the Tingari cycle (a cycle of myths about the ancestors of the Pintupi). His designs are inspired by those painted on the body during ceremonies. He uses acrylic paints on canvas, sticking to earthy colours . like the below painting and also the centre of the collaborative done by the Tjapaltjarri Brothers.

15.01.2022 Susan Gibson Napaltjarri was taught to paint by her parents, both successful, internationally recognised indigenous artists. Her father is Yala Yala Gibbs and mother is Ningura Napurula. Susan paintings represent her birth country; the region of Tjukurla in the Gibson Desert. Susans style and subject matter reflect a strong influence from her parents; however she has developed an individual approach which is apparent in much of her recent work.

15.01.2022 MOUNTAIN DEVIL LIZARD By Gloria Petyarre The painting depicts the curling pattern of the Mountain Devil Lizards skin. In the Dreamtime Stories it is believed the lizard collected then deposited these ochre colours throughout the Utopian area. Aboriginal people use these colours for body painting in their ceremonies. Some members of the Petyarre family bear markings on their skin, similar to that found on the Mountain Devil Lizard.

George Tjangala was a keeper or custodian of the lands surrounding what is today known as Kintore. George and Pantjiya walked into Papunya in 1961.

12.01.2022 Paddy Carroll Tjungurrayi was a senior lawman and widely respected figure in the Papunya community, in the mid-1970s he observed some of the elder men painting their dreamings on canvas and began to paint himself. In 1988 he painted the concentric circles for the Bicentennial $10.00 polymer bank note and in 1991 he travelled to the United States with Dinny Nolan Jampitjinpa on a working exhibition.

11.01.2022 The Pintupi Nine were a group of nine Pintupi people who lived a traditional hunter-gatherer desert-dwelling life in Australias Gibson Desert until 1984, when they made contact with their relatives near Kiwirrkurra. Neils mother, Pantjiya Nungurrayi is a senior painter for the Pupanya Tula Artists. Her country is Kungayunti which is near Haasts Bluff. Neil has been painting at Tjarlirli Art in Tjukurla since 2005 and has also painted at Papunya.

It was only after the death of her mother in 1983 that her older sister Lily Kelly Napangardi shared with Topsy more family stories that had been passed down to her, including Sand Hills. Topsy continues to share these family Dreamings with her children to keep their culture alive.

Wentens was one of the few artist who migrated from watercolours to the traditional colours when the senior Papunya artist migrated from boards to canvas. She is the eldest daughter of the late Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, one of the original painters of the Papunya art movement. Gabriella painted alongside her father from an early age, although she is an individual artist in her own right, her paintings, praised as culturally significant reflect her fathers distinctive style. Gabriella was commissioned to complete a twenty metre art installation depicting her custodial Grandmothers Country for the 2008 RHS Chelsea Flower Show which was awarded the Gold Metal this is a larger scale to the below painting.
