25.01.2022 C] Gallery - 1 For those who are outcome based rather than procedural. Deja vu's a bugger isn't it.

24.01.2022 C] Gallery - 5 Groesbeek Heights/Fulda Gap. This commission was the second of two Market Garden themed tables. After Arnhem bridge I didn't want to paint another building for a while. Team Yankee was calling to my client so we settled on a composite table suited to both periods.... The tower was originally a Gravox tin. (apologies to the gastronomics out there) See more

22.01.2022 Sam and Rosie’s Hobbit Hole. The movie that keeps on giving. Full coach (41) leaves for Hobbiton tour every 5 minutes. We’re in the off-season.

19.01.2022 D] Current Project - Primisole Bridge - Early Stages. Operation Marston, part of the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943 has long been a fascination of mine. Paul Brelsford and I spent hundreds of hours over the ASL, Anvil of Victory mega-scenario and now it's time to convert this, mostly infantry battle, to 6mm table top....I hope. The base of the table consists of 10 basic tiles and 10 BARTs (see previous posts). The balsa parquet for the Simeto River bank counteracts the... shrinkage caused by the PVA and DAS used in the detailing. Most of my tables have to be good travelers so with this one, all buildings, vineyards and olive groves will be built on galvanized iron insert bases (50x50, 100x50 or 85x85). Receptacle slots are created using 1mm balsa strips to form the framework and filler to blend it with the surrounding terrain. And Tommy the Turtle? I now have 87 inserts +13 extras for variety for a total of 100 to complete. Where do I start? Ever read Diceman? Where're my percentile dice? I'm constructing the inserts in the order of Inga's die rolls...who knows how it will turn out. See more

19.01.2022 C] Gallery-2 Maleme Airfield, Crete with optional Maleme City and Hill 107 extensions and a tip for making Yukkas. Enjoy. (next up first look at the latest project, Primisole Bridge.)

17.01.2022 C] Gallery - 3 Stalingrad (or Kharkov or Dnepropetrovsk or ..) was a vehicle to show off a range of truly magnificent ruins produced by JR (I think). Please correct me if I got the brand wrong, they deserve the recognition even if they may no longer be around. When I debuted this table at a Brisbane FOW tournament, the organiser, who will remain nameless, (yes you Garry Waite), insisted that I play a round on my own table. Shame I was running an early war Leichte Panzerkompanie. But I'm over it. Enjoy.

16.01.2022 Well that's enough retirement, let's get back to work..... UTTT does not have a website at present. All photos and info will be posted here. While I'm not planning on doing any new commission work in the short term, I do have a large stock of unpainted plastic hex tiles and a limited number of Collector Tiles that need new homes. More on this in a later post. For now enjoy a sample of what's to come. Al Griffin

16.01.2022 B] Terrain Tips - Depth on the Battlefield - Part 1. True negative terrain is difficult to achieve on a standard gaming table. Most of the following tips apply to my terrain tiles but others can be used with any terrain system. The standard UTTT tile has a 3mm thick surface to reduce dice bounce and enhance stability. Road ruts and camber, drainage ditches and shell holes can be carved into the plastic surface with a variety of tools. To model beaches and rivers you need BART, The Beach And River Tile. This post shows the 'commercial outfits' available for your Bart, the next will detail advance uses for this versatile unit. Enjoy.

11.01.2022 B] Terrain Tips - Depth on the Battlefield - Part 2 BART is not limited to set outfits. You can improvise but be careful of glues and fillers that contract on drying. Plastic base tiles won't develop annoying wobbles if you 1) use dobs of glue rather than lines and 2) lay your balsa like a parquet floor with alternate pieces layed with their grains at right angles. Large sheets of balsa will warp around the grain and transfer that shape to the plastic base. The pics here are earlier conversions I now cut my balsa into 50mm x10mm x5mm parquet sticks for all BART conversions.

10.01.2022 Nock’s Volley Gun, Auckland Museum. Patrick Harper would’ve had no problem slinging it over his shoulder. Smaller than I thought.

09.01.2022 B] Terrain Tips - Insertions When you get a set of truly remarkable terrain pieces you need to give them a suitable stage on which to perform. Continuing with the depth theme, sometimes it's better to raise the rest of the tile to get ponds, craters, antitank ditches, trenches and embedded terrain pieces. Enjoy, Al... 08.01.2022 C] Gallery - 4 A short Saga .. to match my short supply of 28mm figures.

03.01.2022 A] Introduction to UTTT - Part 2. All future posts will fall into 3 catagories. B] Will be terrain tips suitable for any periods and scales. C] Will be a gallery of tiles and tables, and D] Will be progress report on the latest job, at present, that would be a Sicilian river table loosely based on a 15 board ASL scenario of the capture of Primisole Bridge.... Here's a few more samples of what you can do with UTTT hex tiles. See more
