25.01.2022 Walk n Train with Marvel Marvel has been training with us since he was a puppy. It is so awesome to be a part of the whole training journey. Trainer Kerr takes Marvel to new training locations to make sure his skills are proofed in all environments. With this beautiful weather we are having the beach was the perfect choice for this session.

19.01.2022 Meet Windsor the Mastiff. His owners had a lot of awesome questions today. We’ve got Windsor on the right track with his socialization and manners. Looking forward to watching this big boy progress.

18.01.2022 Frankie’s owner are very active and they want to be able to include Frankie in their adventures. Here’s a pic of Frankie getting used to her backpack to go on biking trips. We started with the bag on the ground and worked up to Frankie sitting in it. Once she was comfy with that she got to go for a walk around the house in it. No need to rush these things. Small steps towards success. Great work guys

18.01.2022 Miss Edie rocking her ‘Leave it’ exercise. In this session we were building in an automatic focus on handler rather than the thing she has to leave.

17.01.2022 Koda wanted to say hi to everyone. This cutie had her first session today. Koda’s owner were already doing amazing, we just added some boundaries and tweaked a couple of things. Really looking forward to working with this family.

17.01.2022 Walk n trains with Bruce & Soli Bruce and I ventured to Coles in Nambour to work on his distraction training. Soli and I headed to Cotton Tree, others dogs are a big deal for Soli at the moment so we concentrated on his impulse control. Private lessons with new recruits Frankie & Lulu. ... Miss Frankie is rocking everything. Super switched on and keen to learn. Lulu the cavoodle had her first lesson today. At just 8 weeks of age she is off to a great start.

16.01.2022 I had the pleasure of hanging out with these awesome puppies. Anyone looking for a working dog should contact these guys and have a chat. They have been exposed to ENS, confidence building and environmental exposure. Superstars in the making!!!!

15.01.2022 Sniffer Squad Exterior searches working a ground hide, elevation and wall hide. Really interesting to watch. Great job guys

13.01.2022 Handsome boys Soli & Bruce Recalls were the aim in these lessons. We got out our trusty long line and gave these boys some freedom to make good choices. This can be hard for puppies but these two are improving with every session.

13.01.2022 The all important recall. Freedom is an important part of training. But of course safety first. Notice Bruce has a long line attached to him but he still feels like he is free. We’ve built a lot of value into ‘hanging around’ the handler. You’ll see Bruce check in with me every so often. Recalls need to be random. They just happen, and the dog needs to be able to recall away from distraction. We are in an off leash dog area for this session. I make sure to give plenty of di...stance from dogs running free at this stage. I want to set Bruce up for success. The number one way to do that is have that long line attached. If Bruce chooses to ignore me I can use the lead to bring him in and finish the exercise. Remember the recall needs to be the most exciting exercise you do with your dog. You are recalling your dog away from something they want to be doing. So you must be better. Ie food reward or game of tug etc.

06.01.2022 Walk n Train with Arlo Lots of distractions during school holidays. Arlo worked well and of course had moments of wanting to play with Scout. It’s important to give puppies lots of rests during a session like this. Arlo was getting tired towards the end and decided to do some zoomies. We stopped and let him chill out for a bit and recover then we took him home.

06.01.2022 Assistance dog in training Skye had a trip to the Homemaker Centre today. Her training is coming along nicely, she has the chill out part down pat but still gets a bit over excited in some situations. I think the new haircut suits her though. #assistancedog #smartpups #UltimateK9 #dogsofthesunshinecoast #dogtraining #dogsintraining #workingdogs #workingdogsofinstagram

05.01.2022 Arlo's Antics This set of photos pretty much sums up a dog training session. Of course, each dog will be working on different goals and the order these things happen will change. It kinds goes like this; Focus and engagement, skill drills, a bit of chaos, skills drill, some play, chill out time, chaos, look like butter wouldn't melt (followed by chaos), breakthrough!!!!, chill out time.... The one thing that doesn't change, is we have so much fun working with you and your dogs. Please remember the next time you go to train your dog and they pull you into a garden or decide to chase a bush turkey, that it looks the same for everyone (including the professionals). Take the small wins and enjoy your time with your buddy.

04.01.2022 Arlo working on his recall. There was a tennis ball on the ground so his owner had to work hard to get his attention. We’ll done guys, you are smashing it!!!!

03.01.2022 The wind isn’t always bad. It let us get these super adorable photos of Raya and her flying ears. This was Raya’s first big outing. Lots to take in and a bit overwhelming at times but her recovery was awesome.

03.01.2022 ‘Paws up’ with Skye Skye and I have done a couple of sessions ‘free shaping’ this behavior. Shaping is when you let the dog offer different behaviors working towards the goal behavior. You’ll hear me using a clicker in this session as opposed to our verbal marker ‘Yes’. We have both installed with Skye as we will be teaching her complex skills for her assistance dog role. Today we introduced the cue of ‘paws up’.

02.01.2022 Trick training is a great way to keep your dogs mentally stimulated. Here’s Honey & Rosie learning some new ones. Sit Pretty, Bow and Nose Touch.
