14.01.2022 To help make your next downwind a safe one, I've listed my top 10 helpful tips: 1) Research the conditions; 2) Always paddle with a partner; 3) Develop a clear ...and simple plan; 4) Wear a high visibility approved PFD; 5) Wear appropriate clothing for the conditions; 6) Check and secure your leg leash; 7) Bring a mobile phone in a waterproof bag (in case of an emergency, the Police can use your phone to track your location) or even an Apple Watch; 8) Consider using tracking apps like Glympse. This app allows you to track all of the paddlers in your group; 9) Carry a flare; 10) Keep clear of headlands, white water and breaking waves. You can generally use the surfers as a guide to where the waves are breaking. Enjoy and stay safe. Please share with your fellow paddlers and feel free add any great ideas.
