It could be in any muscle but is found often with the upper trapezius and hip flexors. Common sense would drive someone to stretch that stiff muscle, right? Stretching may give temporary relief if it all, but what happens if that sensation does not subside? Try out some strengthening exercises to build up the capacity of those structures. _______________________________________



23.01.2022 This is why at UPR we emphasis how important learning to breathe properly is. Posture and Breathe go hand in hand. When you learn to breathe properly it can be a game changer, esp for people with chronic pain. Don't let it fool you, it can be one of the hardest things to learn how to do properly. ... We tend to take breathing for granted and just assume we are doing it properly because it's essential for life but overtime due to poor body mechanics, poor coaching/training techniques, trauma, illness, injury, etc, our breathing can change without us even being aware of it. Breathing is also one of the main principles of Pilates so if you find you're not being taught or you're breathing isn't being cued... maybe ask yourself whether you are truly doing your body good As Joseph Pilates (the man himself) always said: "ABOVE ALL, LEARN HOW TO BREATHE CORRECTLY" #Repost @thebodymechanic_sr Improper breathing mechanics can lead to compression of the lower spine. When the pelvis tilts forward and the diaphragm tilts back (typical poor posture), each breath, instead of creating stability for the spine, creates compression.

This weekend we are delighted to be offering a number of workshops designed to emotionally support and nurture mums (existing and expectant). Lead by resident Counsellor and Birth Doula, Delise Oldfield, we will kick off Saturday morning with 'Attuning to your baby in utero', followed up on Saturday afternoon with a restorative meditation practice called 'Rebalancing the Mother'. On Sunday morning, our 'Honouring the Mother' workshop will make use of the mexican shawl (Rebozo) and we will close out the weekend with a repeat session of 'Rebalancing the Mother' on Sunday afternoon.
