24.01.2022 When the opportunity arose for our running community to take on a maintenance section of the Bibbulmun Track, we jumped on in and this morning some more pieces of that puzzle were set in place at the Bibbulmun Track Foundation for us to maintain the Nuts Rd Lookout to Conspicuous Cliffs section in the Frankland region between Walpole and Peaceful Bay. A stunning part of the world and just a small way we can give back for the wonderful facilities and trails we are blessed with. Our first maintenance weekend is coming up in August! (details in comments below).

23.01.2022 Who is really the right coach for you? How do you know who's methods will cater to your running history, your running abilities and your running goals? If there are a choice of coaches, how do I select which one is best? That's why at Ultra Series Coaching we are introducing our USC Coaching mentor. And someone so fitting of this role is Sanja Kolonic. She is a mountain lover, trail runner and adventure seeker. Sanja has done some crazy adventures including ascending Manaslu ...(8163m) in Nepal, Transalpine Run 255k/7 stages in Europe and numerous ultra marathons throughout Australia. Her insatiable thirst for the mental and physical challenge started in 2013 after running a lap of Lake Monger and then promptly deciding to sign up for The North Face 100 where her love affair with the trails started. Sanja would love to ignite a sense of adventure in you in sharing her experiences and is the perfect fit as your mentor to help find the right coach for you. She will be in touch in the coming weeks to all those that have registered their interest to discuss your running story and help where she can. You can register your interest at: https://ultraserieswa.com.au/ultra-series-coaching/ See more
21.01.2022 The Lighthorse Ultra is shaping to be our biggest event EVER with the 300th entrant expected within the next 24 hours. Undeniably, we have all craved running events to be back. Also undeniably, this is a wonderful way to remember, given that Anzac Day wasn't the big celebration we normally have each year. An incredible 25% of the field this year will be filled with current and past serving personnel and this is just bloody magnificent. It will be an honour to have them runnin...g some laps with you all. Oh, and the horses from the 10th Lighthorse Troop in Rockingham will be joining us on the Sunday for their own 3 hour loop on an adjoining course. So, are you in for the 1, 3, 6, 12 or 24 hour event this year for the Lighthorse Ultra Marathon? www.lighthorseultra.com.au See more
21.01.2022 The original ultra in Ultra Series, The Australia Day Ultra has just opened!! This is the ultimate speed course and the one road event on the Ultra Series circuit. It is fast. Super fast. Numerous Australian record attepmts have been made (and a few achieved) on this circuit consisting of a 6.25k up n back course alongside the beautiful Leschenault Inlet in Australind. So is 25, 50, 75 or 100k on your menu this coming January 23rd, 2021?... All the deets and registration links can be found at http://australiadayultra.com/
21.01.2022 With each event, we try to embrace more and more exactly what is represented. These silhouette additions around the course will be pretty touching lit up at night. The Lighthorse Ultra 24 hour, 12 hour 6 hour, 3 hour or 1 hour events this year is set to be double the size it has ever been before and we also offer FREE entry to current and past service personnel, regardless of what country you served for. It is magical that they currently make up 25% of the field this year al...ready! Held at Perry's Paddock, just off Ocean Reef Road in Woodvale in Perth's Northern suburbs, the event in the past has seen some world class results with last year having the 6th best result EVER for a male in 12 hours. This year is no exception with a new Australian record set to be smashed with a bursting 24 hours field larger that ever assembled in Australia before. So come and join us in making history as we pay credit to those that have served to give us the freedom we have today. www.lighthorseultra.com.au
20.01.2022 No, none of our future races are cancelled. Yes we are low risk due to the small numbers, expansive distances, outside nature, spread out runners, spaced starting times and distances, yes we are reading all the advice given and are obviously taking this seriously, no we dont want you to be selfishly foolish to show up if you are showing any of the so many times mentioned symptoms, yes we want you to continue to be active, yes we plan to continue on as per our planned schedul...e and events as we believe our events are of extremely low risk, yes I believe you can all read, have read before and have seen all the advice a thousand times over that is applicable to all of us so no Im not going to repeat all the jargon as I know you are all smart enough to understand what is expected and required. No Im not going to patronise you and talk to you all like you dont know what to expect. Yes, as with EVERY event EVERY time EVERY year, I will always monitor the situations. Dont be knoobs Dont be selfish Be smart Be savvy Be healthy Dont take risks Keep our ethics up Hit the trails #trailrunning4life #uswa

12.01.2022 The Feral Pig Ultra, Bibbulmun Track, Perth Hills, Nov 7th-8th 2020. 23k, 50k, 50 Miler, 100k or 100 Miler. You may have heard of the Feral and you want to be bold, We know it will be hot cos its never bloody cold! Once a year this event comes around for us all... Is now the time for you to stand up and be tall? So youre new to the trails and you want to explore, Youve seen parts of the hills and you want to see more. Youre an old firm at the trails and you need a test, You want climbs, trails and views and all that is best. Your inner Feral is calling and you want to commit, If you want epic and challenging, then this is legit. The Pork Chop at 23k is great for a start, The stairs and the climbs will raise the beat of your heart. The Sow 50k is cruel with the midday sun, You start at noon which sounds not so much fun. But as the day progresses and the sun starts to fall, The views and colours through the valleys are the best of them all. Or is the Boar 50 Miler calling your name? Are you crazy or weird or just a little insane? You run all through the day from dawn to sunset, At 80 odd k this could be your longest run yet? But why stop at 80 when theres the 100k Wild Swine, You get to pass twice through that teasing finish line! But that bonus few k going past the weir, Takes in magical trails and makes you earn that beer! But the pinnacle of them all is the 100 Mile Feral Pig, They say go home or go hard, test yourself and go big. It takes you to places heavenly and evil so be ready, This is not for one to be arrogant, be smart and be steady. 100 Miles on those trails takes courage and grit, Yes, you need to be strong, but more importantly mental fit. But that glory of the finish which has thus far only seen few Is worth it for that finish line hug given from me to you. Now the time has come for you to set your race plan, Choose your distance and goals and dream like you can. So chuck on your runners and prepare your happy dance, Cos all we are saying is give pigs a chance. https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=37002

With such an explosion in trail and ultra running and people striving to achieve more and more, we feel very privileged to be offering you a collective of some incredible athletes to help you reach your future ultra running goals. Both female and male coaches are part of the team so we will work with you to match the right fit. But equally important for our endurance spo...rt is the mental training which is why we have selected who we have. One thing I do promise is that these coaches have ALL achieved amazing feats and have so much experience in Ultra Running, that they each have amazing attributes to bring to the table. All very different approaches which is perfect to offer a coach that fits. Ultra Series Coaching (USC) is coming this August and we are now taking expressions of interest for those looking for a coach to help make these adventures and dreams come true. https://ultraserieswa.com.au/ultra-series-coaching/
09.01.2022 Feral Pig Ultra early bird entries are NOW OPEN!!! Come and get yourselves some squeeling good savings for this ultimate trail running event along the Bibbulmun Track in the Perth Hills. www.feralpigultra.com.au
07.01.2022 Today we introduce you to our first female coach on the team at USC (Ultra Series Coaching) in Beck Hefferon. I have been fortunate to know Beck for several years and know that she has an incredibly long and strong running resume that virtually all of you wouldn't even know about. Super well travelled with her running and is also a physiotherapist with a wealth of knowledge. She is so very humble so it is so bloody tops to have her step up and share her knowledge with you and... help those of you that want to reach for your running dreams. Here are some words from Beck: "I have been running long distance for over 15 years and have experienced amazing running in Australia, UK, Iceland, Scandinavia and the USA Achievements include raising $25,000 for charity running the London marathon with my 3 sisters, running in Cambodia raise awareness for amputees and discovering real meaning of trails at the SwissAlpine in Switzerland, Larapinta stage race and the Rollercoaster run in the Dandenong, Victoria! Moving into ultras has been equally rewarding with a bronze buckle at NorthFace 100, 10th place at the Margaret River Ultra, and 2nd at WTF 50miler. Since 2017 Ive successfully move up to milers with 2 sub 24hrs finishes at the A 100 and along The South Downs Way 100 in the UK and a 2nd place in USWAs own Feral Pig Ultra. These have all been wonderfully rewarding experiences and I hope to do at least a few more! Outside of running the achievements Im most proud of are becoming a physio and a Churchill Fellow with both significantly enhanced my running. My running philosophy is to keep things simple. As a physio Im fortunate to understand how the body responds to physical stress and demand. How we perceive (good and bad)and recover from these experiences play a central role in how successful and enjoyable running can be. I love to challenge myself but with the anticipation of adventure and not expectation. The outdoors is my energy source (mental and physical) and I never cease to be in awe of how privileged I am to experience this. My coaching style reflects this. I believe a happy runner will be a better runner and an honest appraisal and respect for the ultra distance and the environment with both its immediate and long term impact on the body and mind is essential. What I offer as a coach is a personalised, flexible and non judgemental approach that aims to be evidence based, professional and supportive with a sense of fun and adventure to help you achieve your ultra running goals." So if you are looking for a female ultra and trail running coach based in WA, Beck just may be the one for you. You can register your interest at: https://ultraserieswa.com.au/ultra-series-coaching/

07.01.2022 Y'all know I get pretty excited at times. Well now is no different and we are undoubtedly moving forward into our most exciting chapters ahead for USWA. And I have promised that each event will be even more speshal as we move forward. And so I welcome Loretta De Stefani to the team. Loretta loves trail running (that's where I met her a few years ago) but as she says "I don't do this crazy distance stuff you lot all do". She has an extensive background working with Tourism WA ...and Tourism Australia for events with an amazing network that will absolutely complement many of our existing events to help implement so many of those 1%ers that I have promised I want to integrate into our events. From cultural groups to council liaison, state, federal and local government communications, socials and so much more, it has become inevitable that we need her to help with these things that I just haven't had the scope to involve myself in. Loretta is shy (like me ) so even at events she will likely blend in the background but my gosh is she passionate about how she can help us spread our arms and hugs (from a distance for now - god I can't wait for this to be back) to more people in the community that will fall in love with our sport and community like we all have. I know I am anal with releasing the reigns for stuff but I appreciate and am also proud that after 4 years we are now at a point where I need to concentrate on what I know best and designate roles where we can improve to those that know those fields better than what I ever could. So when I say we have an exciting future ahead, this is only the beginning. We have so many adventures that lay ahead of us. Hope you come along for the ride.

03.01.2022 Our first event back is looking to be a ripper!! A backyard ultra, around a lake, 6.71klms every hour on the hour. Last one standing....... Birdy's Backyard is getting quite the crowd!! Although the facility is primed for 125 entrants (which was our planned capping), due to procedures that we will be implementing for Covid changes, we are maxxing out at 100 this year. This means that as I type this, there are just 28 places left!!! What an awesome field this will be for this ...format. Powered sites have sold out but there are ample unpowered sites left. So jump on it and snap up those last couple of dozen spots and it will be so good to all hit the trails together again. https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=36163 See more
