13.01.2022 Today is the Australasian Society of Genetic Counsellors Awareness day. At Ultrasound Care, Genetic Counsellors work closely with doctors and sonographers to provide expert care and guidance to our patients. Our Genetic Counsellors are expert in providing the cell free fetal DNA test (NIPT), first trimester screening tests including the nuchal translucency test, genetic carrier screening, non-invasive paternity testing and genetic recommendations prior to invasive testing (...CVS and amniocentesis). They liaise between the clinical and pathological geneticists in our referred laboratories, and work alongside the medical Geneticists who consult our patients. As the future moves forwards to a better understanding of our genetics and the importance of understanding our genetic inheritance, Ultrasound Care would like to thank and acknowledge the work and care our team provides, led by the incredible Mia Liepins.
