25.01.2022 Who doesn’t love a damper cook up?

24.01.2022 Sunday 10th January 2021 Ulysses branch met up at Mobil Cafe WIFI 24/7 before we headed off to Ebor Falls Hotel for lunch. A bit cool in morning but along the w...ay it was refreshing to see dams full, creeks and streams flowing with luscious green scenery. Ebor Falls was overflowing, spectacular. A lovely lunch and a great get together with awesome friends to enjoy with, for what was a wonderful day of riding. Around about 18 of us today. Thank you all for coming along, and also we welcome Wayne, Scott, Paul for the first time. See more

22.01.2022 The National Memorial Ride organised annually by the Macarthur Branch will not be run this year due to the issues with the Covid-19 virus, and the uncertainty of further restrictions in Sydney. The Macarthur Branch will run their own (socially distanced) ride to another venue and have their own gathering to remember members and friends who have ridden on. Macarthur Branch would like to suggest that other Branches do the same where possible and in accordance with state based restrictions. The National Memorial Day ride to Cordeaux Dam was due to be held on 13th September.

04.01.2022 Sad news for those of you who know Ken and knew Chloe.

04.01.2022 For many years members of the National Committee have attended the gathering at Lake Cordeaux Dam which is west of Wollongong in N.S.W. as well as memorial gatherings in other place and it is unfortunate that we have had to cancel this year’s ride and gathering. The members of the Macarthur Branch who organised the ride to Cordeaux Dam, are very disappointed to have had to cancel the ride, due to the disastrous CoVid_19 virus. However, members are still getting together all ...over Australia where they are able, to remember those who have ridden on. All of us have fond and loving memories of those friends and family who have ridden on before us and at your gathering it is wonderful to have the opportunity to come together to think about and remember them on Memorial Day, an important day to the Ulysses Club. Especially, we remember 'Ole No.1, Stephen Dearnley and the founding members who are no longer with us. That we dedicate a day is a heartfelt demonstration of how much we hold those dear who have ridden on before us. Today, please especially value your mates, family and fellow riders who you are lucky to share life’s journey with. Celebrate and nurture them and enjoy their friendship and love. Thankyou all who have gathered together to remember and pay respects to those Ulysses Club members and friends who have Ridden On. Keep those who have ridden on in your hearts and minds always. Look after those who grieve and be there to support them. Be gentle. Here are some photos from previous Memorial day rides, from Cordeux Dam, Hunter Valley, Mt Gambier, Queensland and WA

For convenient access to WA’s leading source of news, when you’re unable to purchase a print edition, please subscribe at thewest.com.au/digital edition. SAM JEREMIC ... Survey finds riding helps reduce stress levels and provides a sense of freedom, among other benefits Motorcyclists are the happiest people on our roads, according to a survey of Australian motorists. To coincide with the launch of its motorcycle insurance program, ING commissioned a study of more than 1000 Australian motorists to discover their behaviour and mindset while on the roads. The survey’s 313 motorcyclists were found to be 27 per cent happier than the average motorist, with many riders having a different relationship with their bikes than others have with their cars. More than 80 per cent of motorcyclists said riding made them happy, compared with only 55 per cent of other motorists. In fact, more than half of the motorcyclists surveyed said the positive mental health effects of riding was their No.1 reason for choosing the two-wheeled lifestyle. Almost half (48 per cent) of the motorcycling respondents considered riding a form of mindfulness which helped reduce stress levels; 41 per cent said they loved riding’s sense of freedom; and more than a third (34 per cent) liked to head bush to enjoy the fresh air and take in the natural surroundings. ING’s head of wealth Cathy Duncan said it showed motorcycles were more than just a means of transport for most people. The research indicates that riding a motorcycle could be providing many with some of the same benefits of practices such as yoga and meditation, she said. Other benefits of riding were listed as convenience in getting around (36 per cent), easily finding a parking spot (35 per cent) and saving money (34 per cent). It’s a love which is passed down through the generations, with 35 per cent getting into it due to friends or family, and a quarter vowing to keep biking as a family tradition by teaching their children how to ride. It can also be a relationship builder or saver, with 43 per cent of riders wanting to share their love of riding with friends or their partner. However, it’s a hobby which can become an obsession: 60 per cent of riders said their gear and leathers were more important than belongings such as their car, computer, phone, watch or wedding ring.
