22.01.2022 Umbrella is proud to have been providing community aged care services for older members of the LGBTI community and their carers since 2012. We believe that everyone has an equal right to enjoy their golden years and that gender identity and sexual orientation should not be barriers to accessing quality aged care services. The organisation is committed to providing training on delivering LGBTI inclusive care. Last week all staff watched an educational video portraying the personal stories and experiences of several older LGBTI people, including with aged care services. In a facilitated discussion staff reflected on the discrimination and prejudice that many older LGBTI people have experienced and talked about how the community as a whole can be more open and accepting.

15.01.2022 Our CEO, Anna Harrison has attended the 4th National LGBT&I Ageing & Aged Care Conference in Melbourne. She commented I am privileged and proud to be part of this amazing conference. The screening of The Coming Back Out Ball movie brought very strong emotions among participants: tears, laughter, coming out, feeling safe among others, unity, understanding, excepting, solidarity and achievements. We live in a wonderful country Australia, heaps to do yet but at least we are on a good track. Umbrella Incs work was also mentioned during the LGBTI Community Visitor Scheme Network presentation.

06.01.2022 The Mandurah LGBTI group started the year with some fantastic events. First, they visited the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity at Cracovia Club. The Grand Finale fundraiser is a one-day public charitable fundraiser, which traditionally takes place on the second Sunday of January. The collection is held internationally, and it is managed by the local hubs of charitable activity Collection Centres. 1700 Collection Centres organize the work of 120 000 volunteers. Our char...itable Orchestra plays across the world wherever there is an active and thriving Polish community abroad: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, across Europe, in Americas and on board of Polish ships and vessels and even at the North Pole research station! The day was packed to the brim with events, activities, concerts and sporting challenges and the communities get to come together to have fun and raise funds. Then the group attended a fantastic show at the Fringe Festival, Circus Le Aerial. Feedback from one of the Clients: Just want to say it was a great night out, and know you do your best for your Mandurah children. Luv ya, Oz for love you
