17.01.2022 Here at Upper Mount Gravatt Kindy, we love receiving donations from the community that we can reuse and upcycle socks, cardboard boxes, ribbons, egg cartons etc. This week at Kindergarten, the children were eager to put on a puppet show and these odd socks were perfect to make some crazy puppets!

16.01.2022 UMG kindy were lucky to have a visit from the QLD Ballet. Our ballet visitors, Marth and Lily took us on a ballet journey through the story of The Little Green Road to Fairy Land. We learnt how to point our toes, put our arms in first position and create Australian flora and fauna such as trees, kangaroos and crocodiles with our bodies. Thank you Queensland Ballet visiting us and joining in to celebrate our love of dance.

14.01.2022 Dear Families, We have recently been successful in obtaining a grant from Brisbane Airport Community Giving Fund of $1,000 which will be used to purchase childrens resources. Corrine McMillan MP for Mansfield will be joining us on Wednesday 5th June at 10am to congratulate the service and read a book to the children as part of the Premiers Reading Challenge. 09.01.2022 Dear Past and Present Families of UMG Kindergarten, You are all invited to our upcoming Family Fun afternoon and Disco. This is a great afternoon of fun with your child and gives everyone an opportunity to socialise and meet new friends. Some of the attractions include, large jumping castle with slide, professional DJ (Desi) running the Disco, popcorn machine, sausage sizzle, cake stall, drinks, raffle, activities and more. ... This event provides for an open day to any new families who may be interested in enrolling in the Kindergarten. New families will be able to have a tour of the Kindergarten and engage in the fun and games also. 06.01.2022 Dear Families. I hope you are all having a Happy and safe break. Thank you all for you patience during this uncertain time. As you know we have been awaiting information from the Premier and Education Minister in regards to Term 2 plans.... I have received the latest update this morning from Louise Jackson CEO Lady Gowrie. We are very happy to inform families of the following: - All.children will have access to Kindergarten from Monday 20th April either onsite or online. See below for more information. - No Kindergarten fees will be charged for Term 2 (applies to all children who attended in Term 1) and who are Kindy age IE turning 4 by 30th June 2020 or older. - We cannot confirm if Early Starters or children who are enrolled in 2 programs are eligible for free Kindy. We are still waiting for Lady Gowrie to confirm this. - Children of Essential workers and all other children who can be cared for at home should remain at home, and they will have access to online learning provided by our staff on their regular Kindy days. - Children of Essential workers who cannot be cared for at home will be able to attend Kindergarten onsite (only these children can attend onsite). - Essential workers are those people who are still working. - Children who have been withdrawn from Kindergartenas a result of Covid-19 are able to re-enrol and take part in free Kindy for Term 2. Please email me at [email protected] if you wish to re-enrol or to let me know that your child will attend onsite from 20th April. Since then we have been involved almost every year.... The show is an educational segment which focuses on different areas each time. This latest involvement was looking at rest/sleep time in educational settings. We plan to be associated with the program in future years and hope that families enjoy seeing their child on television as Super Stars of Upper Mt Gravatt Kindergarten. We are delighted inform you all that we have official news that we are starring in the Crocomole episode below, which was shot at our Kindergarten on 19th October, 2017. 03.01.2022 Wonderful worms! With the rain a few weeks ago - the ALIQUA children were very interested in finding worms. We discovered that sometimes they are LONG and sometimes they are SHORT. ... We figured this out by putting them next to our feet to see if they were long or short. We even tried measuring next to Miss Jans feet to see if it was the same size! #kindergarten #uppermtgravattkindergarten

I wanted to let you know that we will be providing a sausage sizzle and bottles of water... hopefully we score some good (cooler!!) weather! 02.01.2022 We were very lucky to receive a visit from the local police station. The children enjoyed finding out about the role of the police in the community. They especially loved the chance to sit in the police car and have the lights and sirens on!

02.01.2022 After reading Wombat Stew, the children in Unit B were keen to make their own stew at Kindy using natural items found in the playground. They created a recipe and added each item in one at a time. They even came up with a song to sing along Kindy Stew, Kindy Stew, Yummy, Spicy,... Crunchy, In my Tummy, Kindy Stew
