11.01.2022 Sunday: Preparing for the week? An Educational Leader contacted us to say that they want to review their internal service requirements for professional learning.... She hadn’t done an overview of what they required in their workplace and felt that it was time. They were unhappy how the team was looking for knowledge in an almost randomised way, rather than having an overarching plan. ‘Requiring’ knowledge is different than just being interested in something or identifying a need to grow in a certain area. It is either a regulatory requirement or an HR requirement or both. It is not a decision made lightly. If you decide that your workplace will require new knowledge, such a decision must be done in conjunction your manager. Do you have a current baseline of professional learning requirements at your workplace? For example: There are those required by regulation for specific roles, such as say, a Certificate III or ECT registration There are those where ‘current’ knowledge is required by regulation, such as with child protection There are those that are required by state policy, such as food safety There are those required by local policy, such as sun safe qualifications. Here are some questions related to those learning requirements that may support you, as you reflect this week: 1. What are your service goals? 2. What are your knowledge needs? 3. How do you identify the knowledge that currently exists in your team? 4. How do you identify the learning topics your team are required to cover? 5. Where are the most reputable, quality assured places that you can find that knowledge? 6. How long will that knowledge persist before you need to assess its currency? If it came from a certified course, what are their requirements for renewal or updating? 7. What would you add to your local required knowledge list if you could and why? Have a wonderful week! 01.01.2022 Hello families, Preschool will remain operational as per the latest Government advice i.e. Schools are to remain open unless advised otherwise with Parents encouraged to keep their children at home if this is possible. Many families have already chosen to do this. We all need to play our part in minimising the spread of illness, infection etc whether its COVID-19 or any other illness. NO SICK CHILDREN are to attend Preschool.... WE Can all do this. Take care of yourselves, your children and other family members. More information as it comes to hand. See more
