24.01.2022 The mornings are getting colder and whilst most of us are happy and warm at home, our field teams are out in the frost conducting client surveys with a smile on their faces. A great time of day. #ecology #winter #wintersurveys #fortheworldaroundus

24.01.2022 With over 27 years of experience, we have grown to a diverse team of over 120, environmental and social specialists, located across Australia. Over this time, we have learned a lot - from our clients, from the projects in which we have been involved, and from stakeholders and communities with whom we have worked - and we thought it might be time to start sharing some of our thoughts with you. Our vision is to make a difference to our People, our Clients and the World around u...s, and from here forward, we will be posting a range of podcasts, interviews and thought papers from our team on key Environment and Social matters topics that we are passionate about. We hope you enjoy reading and/or listening in. As always, we welcome your feedback. https://www.umwelt.com.au/category/podcasts-and-interviews/

21.01.2022 At Umwelt our people are our biggest asset and we want you to get to know us better. Our Staff in the Spotlight series provides the opportunity for us to introduce members of the team some you may know well but others less well. See what makes us get up in the morning at Umwelt.

20.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week 2020 has commenced, marking 20 years since the movement for reconciliation gained momentum with community reconciliation walks across Australia. Umwelt pays its respects to the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live and to elders past and present. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of land on which our offices are located, the Turrbal People, the Whadjuk Nyoongar People, the Awabakal People, the Ngunnawal People and the Wiradjuri People. We acknowledge other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who live in the areas in which we operate. https://www.umwelt.com.au/we-are-all-in-this-together-nati/

18.01.2022 Continuing our great work with Lake Macquarie City Council, Umwelt were recently asked to visit an active construction site to assess some unexpected finds that were uncovered during excavation works for the shared pathway construction project currently being undertaken in Argenton. The excavator drivers had uncovered stone ‘cobbles’ during works, which may comprise the remains of a base surface for the former tramline that extended through this area or the base of an earlier... road. The stone is likely to date from either the early 20th century if associated with the tramway or the late 19th century if associated with a former road. Umwelt fully recorded the uncovered remains before they were carefully covered with a layer of protective material and filled in. Investigations into the exact origins of the find continue. https://www.lakemac.com.au//Path-leading-to-our-past-unear

12.01.2022 According to the ABS census (2016) around 20% the Australian population volunteer their time to support a range of different groups. Here at Umwelt, we too get out and about to lend a helping hand and use our skills for the better good Changing Communities. Changing Lives. Here’s our very own Umwelt wave to show our appreciation to our staff that volunteer their time, and to all volunteers around Australia. #NVW2020 #waveforvolunteers

11.01.2022 The photos were taken by one of our Queensland Ecologists, @ps_wildlifephotography during an ecological survey for a wind farm development on the Central Queensland Coast. They highlight the sensitivity of the landscape, the importance of working with industry to minimize footprint and protect these important values, and move towards a more sustainable energy future. #biologicaldiversity #sustainability #fortheworldus

09.01.2022 Our MD, Barbara Crossley, participating in this year's @ceosleepout. A great cause assisting the many homeless women, men and children within our communities. Any donation you can make will make a difference, and the impact of your generosity will be felt well beyond today. #ceosleepoutau

08.01.2022 Umwelt stepped out again across the nation, for Steptember this year and with the support of staff and friends raised over $5000! A fantastic effort by all four teams; ‘Umwelt Spring’, ‘Let’s Waddle’, ‘Waddle this way’ and ‘The Cheese Birds’. Our leading stepper was Steve Cole with a massive 472,748 steps, with a combined step count of 4,787,803 across all four teams. From south of Melbourne, to Brisbane CBD, to Kings Park in Perth, to the shores of Lake Macquarie, Newcastle beaches and the broader Hunter Valley, there were some wonderful things to see when out stepping. You can still donate to this great cause by visiting @steptemberau #steptember #steptemberau #whyistep
