12.01.2022 Were back on board after a few weeks break today at midday and are ready to do our bit to help. Our feelings are mixed with many out there having lost their homes, their livelihood, and for some, the ultimate price, their lives. As we returned to the city engulfed in eerie haze, the aroma of smoke a constant reminder of what is going on all round us in our beautiful and injured land. ... Theres some crazy facts out there, too unbelievable to comprehend completely at this time and such a long road to recovery. A few things noted here 1/ An area twice the size of Belgium has already burned, in fact the area is larger than most European countries. 2/ An estimated half a billion animals have perished, including 23 humans. 3/ A smoke plume the size of Europe snakes across our landmass and beyond. These fires are getting worse as the years and decades roll on. Surely we need the governments of the world to take note and provide action on a positive way forward. Unless change happens soon, our generation will forever be remembered as the selfish one that valued profit over planet. Its really crazy, its time for a change. Theres a tremendous outflow of positive energy and goodwill across this great land and beyond. All we see online and in person is fundraisers for the cause. Were gladly joining in the efforts.
