24.01.2022 NEWS FLASH !!!!! due to the covid situation and border restrictions on w.a and a few other states I have had to pull the pin on the east coast trip until another time when the situation is alot better. So instead im currently planning a trip through the pilbara and possibly up to the Kimberleys i do plan to film all the pre trip videos and my trip video but i will just be changing it all up .... Sorry east coast and especially all my vic mates i hope all of you can stay safe with this situation and it passes fast . 23.01.2022 FLAT OUT So this September I leave for the east coast. So before I go we have a huge list of things to get done so the next few months it will be nothing but getting things ready to hit the road . A few of the jobs are 1.Install the redvision system and upgrade the electrical system ... 2.Service the car 3. Carry out all pre trip maintenance and full vehicle inspection 4. 23.01.2022 SAT PHONES There is always a huge debate about what you should carry and is a PLB (PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON ) better than a sat phone . Well I have lots of reasons I carry a sat phone instead of a PLB and the main few are . I give my satphone number to local area ranger's or police and inform them of where im heading and how long I plan to be in the area especially in summer as grass fires are a regular occurrence. ... I can get medical advice from a professional live and dont need to msg and wait for a response. If im in a life or death medical situation I can have a professional talk me through it as its happening. And then if I need to order parts, more rum, seek technical help , Organise permits or permission to enter restricted areas its all just a phone call away. Now the reason I have chosen a full sat phone and not a sat sleeve is the call hang time ( time In between talking to the other person ) Some sat sleeves dont have access to asmany low orbital satellites like a full sat phone does this pivotel phone has access to 66 cross linked low earth orbit satellites that makes life easy when you need to talk to someone compared to other options like the sleeve when you talk it might take a few seconds for the other person to hear you and you to hear them . If your only occasionally going remote I recommend buying a PLB or a sleeve that you can connect onto your mobile plan you will save a few $$ If you want to travel Australia I recommend spending the money on a full satphone . I have chosen this handset because of its features and range and the beauty of pivotel is I own the phone and can connect , disconnect or change my plan anytime I want with just a small fee. Im not going to go to deep into costs I will tell you that this handset is $2000 to purchase and I have added a standard cost sheet I recommend speaking to your nearest pivotel dealer for more information. It was also one of the hottest nights i have ever had in a swag haha temps still in the mid to high thirties in the middle of the night .... But the location really was worth it. 18.01.2022 Building a tourer is ALOT of work and planning people will always have a opinion of what you should drive or build but it all comes down to a few things like= What you can afford. What you need for your type of lifestyle (buisness/recreational) and if you are like me it has to be extremely tough and apparently waterproof Not everyone will always agree with your choices but they are not driving it so take your time and do what works for you.... The new uncover 4wd is on order and now it is the huge task of planning the build and also organising all the gear to go inside it as the hilux was a complete loss even the gear inside the draws was destroyed. 18.01.2022 MICKEY THOMPSON TYRES So today at Boddington Tyre Service we replaced a few old tyres that had clocked up 100,000 hard kms on them with some fresh new Mickey Thompson Tires Australia BAJA ATZ P3 all terrains so im ready to head off early next month where you will see me travel all over w.a The mickey Thompson All terrain tyres are the only tyre we run on the hilux and I have been using these for quite sometime now on all my cars.... 18.01.2022 Current situation This week I drop the car off to start stage 3 the canopy build. Then once the canopy is done it goes to ARB to get kitted out Yesterday the cruiser was registered so its all happening now There will still be alot of small jobs to get done but the aim is to get the car running asap.

14.01.2022 CAMERA GEAR I get asked frequently what camera gear I use on a trip well here is a look at some of it. Its not cheap to run a buisness, make videos or take images one shot can cost you alot of time and money .... If I can give you some advice it would be take your time and keep it simple just grab your phone fill your tank and go and live it Lots of my images are taken with my nokia 5110 The main thing is have fun and enjoy the ride On that note get ready for lots of images that look like they have been taken with a potato from my trip thats coming up

05.01.2022 Service time Big kms means regular servicing and to cope with the constant workload I use the @nulonproducts fully synthetic 0W-30 engine oil. I dont only put the best accessories on the car I also make sure everything down to the oils and grease is suited to our conditions and I have seen great results with all the nulon products. And as you know if it can stand up to my test then its one tough product.

05.01.2022 PRE TRIP MAINTENANCE I have been asked alot about this one Before every trip we put a spanner over every nut and bolt under the car then mark it with a paint pen . This makes it easy to ... 1. Remember what bolts we have checked 2. Visibly see if anything has come loose on my morning walk around. Anything that looks weak or rusty gets replaced some inserts that get worn out I cut out and reweld new ones in. Im working on a few trip vids on how we prepare but im keen to hear is there anything you want to know about how I prepare for a big trip ??
