25.01.2022 Hydro excavation around ancient Stormwater pits for replacement. First pit is at the base of a heritage listed tree. And second was within a Electricity SubStation earth ring, so mechanical excavation was out of the question.

24.01.2022 Here’s another job we completed in conjunction with Moortech Industries. A great little retaining wall using reclaimed railway sleepers and associated drainage works. The job came up fantastic even in less than perfect conditions with Mother Nature throwing her worst at us. If you need help with anything in the ground, give USS Excavations a call.

23.01.2022 Water Leak Found The client received a $40.000 water bill for the quarter! It appeared they were using one Litre/second, even with the meters turned off. By how hard the water is running in the video you can see why!... With a new NBN Fiberoptic Asset above the damage, mechanical excavation was out of the question. USS Safely and quickly excavated the area for their plumbers to repair.

22.01.2022 Just a glimpse of the new addition to the USS fleet.

21.01.2022 little footing and strip trench for an illuminated sign install in Epping. Quick, Safe and no mess

19.01.2022 A perfect example why any electronically located asset should be NDD proven before any mechanical digging. These HV conduits were located at 1.150mm deep, but We found that they were actually at .700mm. (Please note. USS did not conduct the electronic location on this job)

18.01.2022 Just a little job from this morning. You can never take it for granted that pipes and cables run in a straight line. (Note the blue water markings to the meter which must have been moved at some stage) Even in your own front yard there are assets which could be costly, or even dangerous if damaged.

13.01.2022 Storm water problems? Trees are fantastic things, without them we wouldn’t be here!! But be mindful of where you plant them, they can get big!!... This can be the result if your not careful, note the Water and Gas mains Assets intertwined within the root ball of this 20year old Eucalyptus. Would have been an event if it had fallen over or even worse, been mechanically doug out. Happy planting!

13.01.2022 A busy little intersection in Kew!! If you have ever wondered what all the colourful lines painted on the ground are..... It’s just someone trying to keep road workers safe and help prevent dangerous/costly and unwelcome damages to the underground infrastructure that we so heavily rely on!

13.01.2022 Something a little different today. Running Topsoil, and garden bed dirt in for a new build. A couple of passes with the smudge bar and done. Ready for Turf Before and after shots.

10.01.2022 A good little job from Friday. Hydro excavate a trench to re-direct a damaged water pipe around an established tree. The area was full of large tree roots as expected, with some Optic Fibre in the mix. Mechanical Excavation would have been very difficult and extremely expensive if any damages were caused.

09.01.2022 Weather you use USS or another Accredited Asset Locator. This is one of the reasons we all harp on about proving our location paint marks. To give an accurate location we rely heavily on the asset we are locating being installed correctly. Especially gas and water assets. We use the small Copper or Stainless wire installed with these assets to locate the pipes as it is installed there just for that purpose. (You can’t find plastic without it). ... You can see in the first photo that the wire is over 300mm away from the property connection. The second photo shows we were pin point on with our location, but the trace wire wasn’t on the pipe where it was meant to be. Remember! If you have to dig close to an existing service, PROVE IT!!

08.01.2022 Working alongside #crowleyexcavation on one of their projects. Removing ground water from a horizontal bore hole. Handles over 3.5m deep with no problems

08.01.2022 I can’t stress enough about how you shouldn’t take it for granted that underground assets are installed at their regulated minimum depths. Here we have a 63mm high pressure gas main buried only 380mm along a suburban road. Even a star picket could have easily been driven straight through. It pays to have all underground assets located and proven if your planning any works.

07.01.2022 Parks Victoria had an issue with a Stormwater Asset which wasn’t flowing. After investigation, digging safely using Vacuum excavation the reason was quite clear. #albertpark #NDD #vacuumexcavation

04.01.2022 A quick Hydro trench dug for communications installation.

04.01.2022 Site cut and trenching work completed last week.

03.01.2022 We are happy to show off our new addition to the USS fleet. Our new Combo Drain Jetter/Hydrovac. Making excavation quicker and easier with the remote controlled 6inch Boom. Please contact us for any additional information.

01.01.2022 Playing in the Kitty Litter!! A blocked Storm water drain one week out from the #AusGP which was threatening to flood Albert Park Race Track is not ideal. Just another Saturday morning

01.01.2022 Some Trenching works completed in Wallan around a HV Kiosk for Electrical Cable Installation. The only way to Safely excavate this close to existing assets. Give USS a call to discuss how we can help with your project.
