22.01.2022 We Are Hiring!! There are 2 candidates we are hoping to attract. PTs with experience who can bring new skills & professionalism to our gym.... Strength & conditioning coaches with vast experience with athletes or s&c gyms. We are looking for either FULL TIME or CASUAL coaches for large group, semi private and PTs. Hours are flexible. Applications sent to [email protected].
22.01.2022 We program for s&c but every Tuesday and Thursday it’s Energy System Development Day. What does this mean? Aerobic training, anaerobic training, cardio, conditioning, death . Whatever you want to call it. ... Researchers believe that splitting the cardio and lifting likely causes an increase in overall calorie burn, leading to a greater decrease in fat mass. Don’t focus on just strength or just cardio, mix it up to see your best results!
19.01.2022 Wednesday we are finally back!! Group training will be back and the opening of Studio U for semi private and PT, which is very exciting. Keen is an understatement
19.01.2022 A few legends around the club have been participating in the #25pushupchallenge. The reason behind doing 25 push ups a day is raising awareness for PTSD, anxiety, depression & suicide. Each day you must nominate someone new to participate, hence why so many are getting amongst it in the gym! ... Well done to Ashton, Kelley, Pete, Dan, Zayne, Amanda, Jaime & Steph. This brings a great culture to the club
19.01.2022 Well done to regional Victoria to taking another massive step towards COVID normal . What does that mean now we’ve moved into stage 3 of the roadmap? Well, for gyms it means we can now start doing outdoor boot camps for up to 10 people! This is something we are used to, as last lockdown we had a group braving the cold at Vic Park. ... This time around, the sun is shining and we’ve got access to our gym car park, which allows us to use our own equipment and continue our programming without an issue!! Keep up the good work Ballarat & Victoria. We will soon be open again
17.01.2022 Don't wait another week to see if we will be allowed to train inside gyms, take action NOW, and take CONTROL of your health now with our Long Road Home Challenge. Registration open below, limited spots availbible https://www.legacydigitalagency.com/optin1602553019934
17.01.2022 Fantastic first day back in the gym. Luckily, training outdoors allowed us to keep connected to our community throughout lockdown. None the less it was great to see everyone indoors . ... Shout out to all the gyms around Ballarat who opened up today as well!! It’s been a tough year, but hopefully the only way is up
16.01.2022 Mask on Based on our understanding of COVID19, wearing a mask may potentially reduce the spread of any moisture exhaled from your mouth via breathing. If you are sneezing or coughing, it's probably not the time to be going to the gym anyway. ... Since your breath is projected outward with less force thanks to the mask, there's a decreased likelihood of spreading any pathogens outside of your small bubble. This is potentially a way to help protect those around you, should you be sick without knowing it. Everyone at the gym is going to be working hard and breathing heavy, so keeping all that breath from moving around may be helpful
14.01.2022 When life gives you lemons, make margaritas As we head back into stage 3 restrictions we go in having the benefit of experiencing it before. It’s vital that going into this lockdown we focus only on what we can actually control. Stressing about things outside our control just doesn’t make sense does it ? ... We go into stage three with clear heads. We can control how we help people. Focus on checking in on your friends and family. Have a laser focus on adding value to them and being a leader in your network. We can control our health: pick a focus for the next 6-weeks. It will stop you resorting to bad habits We can control our self care: be kind to yourself. Learn a new skill, relax, practice positive self chat! we can’t control the weather. we can’t control this virus. we can’t control our businesses being shut down. So don’t worry about it. Worrying about it doesn’t make you feel good or achieve anything! once again thank you for everyone who calls, messages, and texts. It makes everything worth it. Kick back and have a margarita on the Underground Ps stay tuned for our online options
13.01.2022 The weather gods have been doing their best to try and stop members from reaching their goals. We are lucky enough to be able to continue helping our members through this very weird time. Outdoor PTs have been a massive success, no matter the weather. Shoutout to our trainers who are braving the cold as well! Absolute legends.
13.01.2022 As soon as it’s hot, apparently Ballarat turns into Baywatch Sound on for this one.
10.01.2022 It’s not an easy road ahead for our friends in Melbourne for the next 6 weeks, as they head into another lockdown. What does this means for us as a gym and a community? We’ve got to make sure we are taking it seriously. ... Social distancing in place. Using antibacterial sanitiser. Wiping equipment you use/ limit what you are touching. Stay home if you are sick! We can do this
06.01.2022 And just like that, we are back into iso workouts. The next 6 weeks we want to do things a bit differently. It’s about fun, variation, community & entertainment. We need to treat this as a bit of fun, and we'll all make it through unscathed. Zoom sessions will see heaps of variation in adding Pilates, mediation, mobility, Tabata & stretching. All on top of our strength & conditioning core principles. ... Staying within social distancing rules & wearing face masks- we will be doing 2 on 1 & 1 on 1 PTs under cover at the gym car park. Fingers crossed the weather gods don’t smash us. We also will be doing run club/ dog walk club every Saturday morning to stay social. If there’s one thing we want everyone to do, is look out for each other. These are hard times. Go out of your way to help people. Let's focus on the impact you can have within your network. Leaders eat last, and each and every one of you has the ability to lead within our community. Let's get around each other, smash the next 6 weeks & get back to the gym more unified than ever
04.01.2022 Saturday morning run club turned into dog walk club... And we aren’t complaining It’s good to change things up a bit and be out of the gym environment with members
04.01.2022 Why do we include mobility in our programming? To really focus on where your body is immobile. Over the course of lockdown, a number of us are decreasing the amount we are standing/walking, which can lead to postural imbalances, lower back pain and other areas of soreness. So to relieve this, we do active and resisted stretching. We're focusing on our breathing and trying to push our body through the movements and increasing our range. The resisted stretches simply adds ...load and again tries to encourage a greater ROM. Understanding your body. It gives you the opportunity to understand where your body's strengths and weakness' are in regards to mobility. It gives you the opportunity to explore movements to better understand how your body feels in those movements. Rest/ Recovery. It’s good just to break the week up. Some people struggle to to slow down & love to push themselves hard for 4-6 times per week. That's fine if that works for you, but it's very challenging to maintain. As humans, we need our rest. We need allow our body to recover. Just because you may not be feeling soreness from a work out in the following days, does NOT mean that the workout wasn't good/effective. Even if you're not sore, your body will still be under stress for 24-48 hours post workout. Your work out doesn't simply last for the hour that you're actively moving. There's more that goes on behind the scenes that we don't see. It’s OKAY to slow down. The most important thing to do is to listen to your body. If you're mentally and physically wrecked, slow down. Do half a work out or go for a walk. There is absolutely no expectation that you have to continuously push your body through hell when you're drained. Doing that consistently leads to burn out and you losing enjoyment for exercise. Therefore, challenge yourself in your workouts and when you're feeling good, really strive to achieve as much as you can! But when you're a bit under the weather, don't be afraid to accept that and take the time to slow down. Brendan.
03.01.2022 Our challenges aren’t a race to the finish line, it’s a race to the start. We don’t do challenges that.. Starve you! And leave you hungry, sore and craving the finish line so you can just go back to eating normally. Flog you with 7 sessions a week. Why? Because it’s not realistic, or sustainable and is more likely to steer you towards an unhealthy infatuation with doing the most intense session possible. You can get better long term results doing three well str...uctured sessions than 7 manic sessions (random HIIT classes). Give you all the resources at the start then it’s all up to you. We provide a fully catered service where if you do the work your guaranteed success! We use the 6 weeks to Form positive habits, to take into the rest of our lives. Become educated on movement patterns that build strong, resilient bodies! Become educated on hitting your minimums (key word is your). Become educated on what a real balanced nutrition program looks like. Eat for life, not for 6-weeks. If you want to do something different, something sustainable, something with a community based on integrity, bells and whistles a place where egos get left at the door, check us out See more
02.01.2022 Even though gyms are closed, doesn’t mean you stop training. Outdoor PT is still an option. We have been quite lucky to us the gym car park, as we’ve been able to access our equipment easily and continue our programming. The beauty of 1:1 and 2:1 PTs, our coaches have been able to really focus on goal setting with our members, understanding their movements and establish even closer relationships. ... If you’re interested in continuing training while we are in lockdown- give us a message. We would be happy to help
02.01.2022 These crazy times create high-stress business landscapes. It’s more critical now more than ever that we be kind to each other and do everything we can to support our community! People going out of their way to check on us, and ask if there was anything they could do to help us was what has made the tough times not just bearable but pivotal in the decisions we made. ... Thanks for all our OGs who stuck with us through thick and thin! Thanks to the new family who’ve come to the Underground and embraced being able to train in the gym amongst like-minded people again. Let’s not take the community for granted and let’s do everything we can to make sure Ballarat keeps moving forward. Thanks to Commerce Ballarat for this amazing video
