22.01.2022 The issue of underpayment of wages to workers does not seem to be going away. If you need advice with respect to this give us a call A Melbourne Cafe and it's owners have recently been fined $ 232,545 by the Federal Circuit Court for underpaying 73 employees more than $ 180,000 over a 12 month period. The Fair Work Ombudsman had taken the company that operates the Cafe to court with most of the employees not receiving their correct penalty rates & Casual loadings. With all th...e publicity over the last couple of years regarding underpayments by large corporations and small, one would have thought that organisations would have addressed this by now. Back in June, a Melbourne restaurant had been fined $ 200,000 for underpayments to overseas workers. The problem seems to be particularly endemic to the Hospitality & Franchise industries. https://lnkd.in/gdR7eqD #fairworkcommission #underpaymentofwages #penaltyrates

01.01.2022 All businesses should be aware of a recent Federal Circuit Court decision which imposed fines on a Brisbane Bakery $ 22,000 and its Manager $ 4,400 for their failure to comply with a Compliance notice that had been issued by the Fair Work Ombudsman. This was in addition to the calculated back-pay owed to the employee which the Ombudsman had found had arisen through the business not paying the correct minimum wage, casual loadings on evening and weekend work for hours worked.... The Fair Work Ombudsman noted that Businesses who fail to act on compliance notices will be investigated and likely face court-imposed penalties in addition to the compliance order. #underpaidwages #casualloadings #fairworkcommission #underpaymentofwages #penaltyrates #fairworkcompliance
