20.01.2022 MICROTUNNELLING|AUGER BORING|DIRECTIONAL DRILLING When precision is required and there is no room for error, URBA have a number of custom built, laser guided Microtunnelling Machines. These machines are capable of boring from 500mm 2400mm in diameter. URBA’s machines are able to bore in a variety of ground conditions, utilising ‘vacuum extraction’ of spoil. URBA have a custom built cleaning system which enables for the cleaning of drilling fluid during the boring proc...ess. Once in the Vacuum tank, any excess water is drained, cleaned and re-used using our mud cleaning system which is based at the top of the bore pit. All dirt remains within the Vacuum tank and is removed to a designated site. The Vacuum Tank and Generator are mounted on our Tri Axle trailer and Prime Mover. The generator and vacuum unit are in a silenced canopy, mounted on the trailer. This makes the entire boring process much cleaner and environmentally friendly. 12.01.2022 MICROTUNNELLING|AUGER BORING|DIRECTIONAL DRILLING Under Road Boring Australia has a number of Case Boring Boring Machines capable of boring horizontally through the soil to hard rock via a steel casing with Auger and cutting head. These machines are used to bore casings under a number of different obstacles including, roads, creeks, railways or any other ground that cannot be open cut. Case Boring offers a safe, quick and efficient alternative to other forms of boring. UR...BA’s Case Boring Machines are able to Bore holes from 300mm 1200mm in diameter depending on ground conditions. URBA have designed and built a number of different cutting heads ranging from Clay Heads up to Rock heads with rotating teeth for the removal of rock. All equipment is designed and built within our workshop using our team of qualified boiler makers. At the start of the bore, the machine needs to be placed near the invert level of the pipeline to be bored. The length and width are pre-determined and discussed depending on room around the site where the bore is to take place. The machine bores through the ground at the required height / grade and soil is removed from the front of the steel casing via the Auger. The soil then travels down the casing and exits via the side of the Case Boring Machine. Upon completion of the bore, the Augers can be removed without the excavation of an exit pit. This minimises disruption to pedestrians and or traffic. The casing is left in the ground for the carrier pipe to be jacked into place. Upon request, URBA are able to ‘jack’ the carrier pipe using staff who are qualified pipe layers and grout the bore. Established in 1982 in Grafton NSW , Under Road Boring PTY LTD started boring using custom built boring machines, which were designed and built in house. In the early 80’s, URB completed numerous road, creek and driveway crossings utilising these machines for a number of different customers. In the late 80’s URB won a contract within the Grafton region to install a number of stormwater crossings using RCJP. At this time, URB designed and manufactured its very first Mirco Tunnelling Machine and completed the contract on time and budget. At the completion this contract, and testing of the method, a number of other machines were custom designed and built for numerous contracts Australia wide. In 2016, Under Road Boring Australia PTY LTD was formed, with all employees still with the company. URBA is still family owned with the Founding Director of URB still having a hands on approach to all design and fabrication of machines along with working on the ground completing contracts.
