15.01.2022 Unearth-Ed is proud and excited to be assisting Kowanyama State Schools visit to Canberra in 2019.

15.01.2022 The team at Unearth-Ed would like extend our thoughts to everyone in these difficult times and urge people to take care and stay safe by following all the precautions outlined by the medical experts. Whilst the travel ban on schools has affected our business in term 1, it's great to see schools not cancelling completely in 2020, but rescheduling for later on in the year. This has been possible due to the great support of our stakeholders including airlines, venues and attractions providing credits when schools reschedule. Just to re-emphasise Unearth-ed is fully operational and also taking bookings for 2021 so please don't hesitate to call us, we are ready to assist.

15.01.2022 We wish our lovely employee Sarah all the best, we will miss her!

14.01.2022 Unearth-Ed celebrate surviving 2020. The team from Unearth-Ed at their annual strategic getaway created a survivor dress up theme, to celebrate surviving 2020. Every year the team from Unearth-Ed visits a destination away from the office to hold its strategic planning day, to review the previous 12 months and plan future initiatives.... Due to Covid, 2020 wasn’t a great year for business, but we felt just getting through the height of the Pandemic was something to celebrate. The prize for the best looking went to MD Paul Crowther, who went as a cast member from the TV series, Survivor. It was tight voting and there was an accusation that Paul had voted for himself, but no one was prepared to take it further. 2021 is shaping up well with plenty of Australian schools travelling to Canberra so far this year So call your friendly team from Unearth-Ed on 9540 0999 to book your next school excursion!

13.01.2022 WORLD’S BEST DEMOCRACY AUSTRALIA!!! Garry Watson NCETP wants more young Australians to believe in our democracy. He thinks it’s the world’s best! John Berry, United States Ambassador to Australia 201316, once told Gary the number one thing he wanted to take back home at the end of his term was our compulsory voting system. We all vote, all our votes are worth the same, and we all use the same voting system so no hanging chads or class warfare in our system! Our voting sy...stem is managed fairly and with transparency, and is honest, open and accountable. Preferential voting rocks! It ensures the most preferred candidate is elected to every seat in the Parliament of Australia. What’s more, you can see and hear every word of a Parliament Sitting; you can visit and sit in a public gallery, watch it on television, hear it on the radio and view it on the internet. Plus it’s all on the public record for all time, and the same applies to parliamentary committee hearings and inquiries. For further transparency, for 40 minutes every day during a sitting period politicians are really scrutinised by each other. Not even the Prime Minister is safe. Question Time is partly about accountability, and partly for show, but either way, it is real-life theatre, on subjects that matter to us all. Another great part of our democratic system is that those who interpret laws (High Court of Australia) and those who enforce laws (Police) do not make the laws (Parliament). This separation of powers contributes to protecting our rights as citizens. Garry’s advice is, listen to the media if you want to, but always be your own judge. Most politicians are good people with the best intentions to make a difference. Your local member probably works pretty hard in your electorate which is not necessarily what the media likes to focus on. But we get to judge our politicians every 34 years; we let them know how we feel by using our right to vote at an election. A pretty significant performance review! While nothing is perfect in an imperfect world, Garry believes our democratic system measures up! Why don’t you put it to the test, take your students to Canberra where all these concepts are explored, and really give our democracy the once-over.

He went on to say; " Canberra is the perfect place for Australian students to visit offering one good thing after another by providing engaging, educational, fun and thought provoking experiences." "school trips also form lifelong memories and visits like these to Canberra also inspire children to think of careers they may wish to do in the future." he added He concluded by saying: "students also impact on leisure visitor numbers-which are currently at a record high- when students go home and tell their parents of the fantastic trip they had to Canberra and ask to come back. In finishing his address, he thanked everyone at the event for their ongoing work in Canberra's tourism and hospitality industry.

We also said we would work hard to get them to meet the PM. With Parliament sitting at the time of their visit we were able to work with the PM's Department to make it happen. The kids said meeting the PM was really 'flash.'

03.01.2022 Thanks for spoiling us with baked goodies! They were delicious and enjoyed by all! Canberra Park

02.01.2022 The team at Unearth-ed send our prayers and best wishes to our school communities struggling with the bushfires. Unearth-Ed travel consultant Ann Turner sent an email to Jo from Smithtown Public school in NSW (one of our school excursion clients), to say she was thinking of them because of the fires being particularly bad in their area. Ann received this heartfelt reply which we wanted to share with everyone because it gives a small insight into what they are going through, ...but also an illustration of the great Australian spirit that comes through during these challenging times. "Hi Ann, yes, how lucky were our kids to get to Sydney and return as the highway has been closed since Friday. We have a lot of absences today due to the thick, choking smoke. The students that are here, are busy baking Protein balls, muesli bars and Zucchini slice for our firefighters." Thanks for caring!

01.01.2022 Things we love about Canberra... First up is the magnificent Australian War Memorial.... While there, Scott met with Brendan Nelson - the Director of the War Memorial. When in Canberra, Brendan will attend the Last Post Ceremony. This moving ceremony is a significant part of each day at the War Memorial. Each ceremony shares the story behind one of the names on the Roll of Honour. The Australian War Memorial is a must see for all Australian School Students travelling to Canberra.

01.01.2022 Rebate boost to increase civics and citizenship education The Morrison Government has increased the rebate for school students traveling to Canberra this year as part of their civics and citizenship education. Minister for Education and Youth Alan Tudge said the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate or PACER program has been boosted by 50 per cent.... We all have an interest in our children learning about our democracy so they have the skills and values they need to be active and informed citizens, Minister Tudge said. With this rebate we are giving more students from right around Australia the chance to visit our nation’s capital and learn about our history and democracy. It was the Howard Liberal Government that introduced the first real national commitment toward civics education in 1997, and I’m pleased that we are continuing that commitment. Minister for Regional Education Andrew Gee said that in 2019, more than 114,000 PACER students from about 2000 schools throughout Australia visited Canberra. Last year, COVID-19 restrictions meant that only about 8,800 school students from about 140 schools were able to travel to Canberra with the support of PACER, Mr Gee said. Australia’s parliamentary system of government, our electoral processes and democratic history have an important place in the curriculum, and the PACER program is a great support for school students from regional and rural communities to come to Canberra and experience this first-hand. Senator for the ACT Zed Seselja said all federal parliamentarians are looking forward to seeing school students from their respective electorates be able to once again visit Canberra. Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the National Electoral Education Centre, the Australian War Memorial and other national institutions are ready to once again share their programs with students from across the country in a COVID-safe way, Senator Seselja said. Before COVID-19, school excursions were worth around $150 million to the ACT, so PACER will also be important to Canberra’s local economic recovery. For information about the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate visit: https://www.pacer.org.au/ PACER rebate changes (per student): Zone Distance from Canberra Current rebate New 2021 rebate 1 150- 499 kms $20 $30 2 500 999 kms $30 $45 3 1,000 1,999 kms $60 $90 4 1,500 1,999 kms $100 $150 5 2,000 2,499 kms $150 $225 6 2,500 2,999 kms $200 $300 7 3,000 3,999 kms $310 $465 8 4,000 kms and over $340 $510
