19.01.2022 This post is not just for the Hemi guys: The recommended service intervals on some vehicles are not optimal. They are very minimal. This often sees the engine through the warranty period but doesn't leave it in great shape. The 6.4 Hemi is an extremely high performance push rod V8, with highly stressed components to achieve that power. 10.01.2022 Another day, another cammed Hemi... Lee's Jeep one got fitted with a Stage 1 cam. This cam typically adds approx 50hp at the engine, and 35 to 40hp to the wheels. Engine power increases to 520HP+ with the right exhaust. #tunedbyunigroup... #sydneysrt Tech tips: We like the Stage 1 cams in the Jeeps, because they can't afford to give away any low down power. It's a 2500kg vehicle. Stage 1 cam gains power everywhere, with no loss of power down low. Cam sizing is a compromise. As the cam gets bigger, the low rpm power is traded off for high rpm power. Jeeps fitted with bigger camshafts can be slower between 0 to 100km/h, despite making higher peak power on the dyno. This is because loss in low down power/torque can really hurt the acceleration off the mark. We don't recommend big camshafts, unless it's a built engine and matching transmission to turn 7000+ rpm. One last consideration for the Hemi fans... Because the Hemi engine has variable valve timing, the ideal cam for it is a lot smaller than LS, Cleveland, SBC, and other pushrod V8s.
