14.01.2022 Event Invitation | Henry Wanyoike | 29th August 2019 The University of Western Australia has the privilege of hosting Olympic marathon runner Henry Wanyoike, who holds the world record for blind marathon athlete. Identified as a child to be groomed as an elite athlete, Henry lost 95% of his vision at 21 but refused to let it hinder him from blazing a trial as a leading marathon runner. Henry has since gone on to win races across the globe including the Sydney Paralympics and... Boston Marathon, but attributes his success to the people who supported and believed in him. In addition to his sporting accolades, Henry has devoted his success to raise awareness of social issues such as unemployment, education and living with HIV. He also founded the Henry Wanyoike Foundation (HWF), championing initiatives to empower the community and make a sustainable impact for future generations regardless of financial or physical ability. As a UniMentor, we would love to invite you to an intimate session with elite athlete and social entrepreneur, Henry Wanyoike to hear and inquire more of his story. 02.01.2022 The 2020 UniMentor T-Shirt Design Competition is now open! The theme for the new UniMentor T-Shirt design is 20 years of UniMentor in 2020, as its our birthday next year and we are extremely proud. We are encouraging 2019 mentors to submit a T-Shirt Design to [email protected] by Monday 16 September. The mentor cohort will then have a chance to vote for the winning design.... The winner will receive a generous visa card gift voucher and bragging rights of course ). The design will be featured on the 2020 Mentor T-Shirts & 20th birthday marketing material!
