24.01.2022 Union Hotel will not be open for bar trade Fridays and Saturdays and will trade as bottle shop only till further notice! As everyone is aware covid 19 has changed the way we must socialise in public. We have put up signs everywhere marked the floors tables and constantly warn people too sit down and at least try and keep some distance, however message is not getting through!!! Patrons think seated drinks means arm wrestles, dancing on a bench in full view of police, ignoring staff and continuing to get up and dance every time we turn our back. We apologise to everyone who has come to the Union and try to follow the rules. We are not going to cop a fine for people who blatantly break them!

13.01.2022 Today, Sarina and I celebrate our 1 year anniversary of taking over the Union Hotel!!! What a wild ride it has been. We came here from Sydney never been in the outback befor zero pub experience, leading up to the move were many sleepless nights with fear are we doing the right thing, what if people hate us and no one turns up. Turns out we had no reason to worry The Community of Blackall welcomed us in from day one. We would like to thank everyone for making us feel so welcom...e. We want to thank everyone in Blackall that has supported the Union Hotel. We have had a very successful first year Which has only been possible through all your support and love of a beer not even COVID could stop you guys. It’s definitely been a wild ride ups downs but we wouldn’t change a thing. We hope you all have a great Christmas and hopefully 2021 is bigger and better and COVID becomes extinct! 01.01.2022 Union hotel is pleased to announce we will be opening Saturday 16th may from 10am!! Initially we will be open on a trial day to day basis on the provision it is financially viable and that all patrons follow the long list of rules which now apply due to Covid 19. Some of the main rules include * You must purchase a meal {atm meal will be a hotdog and chips}... * Strict social social distancing rules apply. * Maximum 20 patrons at any one time no exceptions. [once we hit capacity please do not attempt to sneak in or jump perimeter fence lengthy bans will apply ] * Patrons must sign in and will be seated in the back beer garden table service will be provided to minimise contact We have been in lengthy conversations with QHA who have strongly advised us although we are licensed to 12am to not push the boundaries with initial stage one easing. Reading between the lines of the advice we have been given is patrons must come with intent of a sit down meal and enjoying a few social drinks than leave [so no lengthy piss up] Close will initially be 10PM Unfortunately there are many rules that now need to be adhered to because of covid. The Union Hotel is pleased that it is a step in the right direction and look forward to seeing you guys again at our pub!! Cheers Grant and Sarina!!!
