06.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS UPDATE Concerns surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been on the rise as further measures are being implemented to protect all Australian citizens, nation-wide. At Union College, all of our residents have been working hard to maintain their studies and adapt to numerous changes, now that all study is being delivered online. We are providing numerous activities to do both in isolation and together with social distancing. To ensure we are accommodating all legis...lative changes, further safety precautions have also been taken. These include: All student tutorials have been taken online. - Markings (measuring 1.5m apart) have been put on the floor of the dining hall room and its entrance walkway to ensure a safe distance is maintained when in line for food. - A strict limit of 2 people to a room. - All hallways are to remain empty and are not to be used as social or meeting areas. - Common rooms (including the gym and games room) have been closed until further notice. - A compulsory 1.5m distance is being kept between all residents at all times. Increasingly, social distancing is becoming the norm for residents as they do their part to follow these rules and guidelines. These precautions are being constantly reviewed as further information is being brought to light, and with the safety of our residents and the community being a paramount concern, we will do our absolute best to look after everyone here, at Union College. MENTAL HEALTH NOTE: Remember to stay strong and reach out when you need it. This is an extremely turbulent time and it's important to remember to check in on friends and family. 03.01.2022 Last Thursday, Merlynne Posner and her team competed and won the 2020 Cooper Grace Ward Junior Moot competition run by the UQ Law Society and held at the Brisbane Supreme Court. The competition involved a mock trial where teams of 2-3 argue a hypothetical legal problem in front of a panel of judges while being questioned. Congratulations Merlynne!
