23.01.2022 I am crossing my fingers a little that once we come out the other side of all this, others now have a real understanding of the things we have to be mindful an...d careful of every single day in our industry. That when we say, please stay away if you're sick , or tell me if there's something going around at your kids school, that we have good reason. We support people who are immuno compromised, medically complex or unable to keep themselves safe from other people's germs. They don't know how to 'social distance', and cannot cope being locked up in four walls if there is 'some bug' going around. Please take that lesson with you. The fear you feel right now, is our reality everyday. It is why many of our primary carers end up ill themselves. Bodies are always in fight or flight which eventually takes a toll. Over many, many Wears. We can die at any time from these germs . You should hopefully be this in a few months. Oh, and give us back the hand sanitiser would you. You can wash your hands at home, with warm soapy water, which actually kills old rona. We can't even survive some bacterial infections! Anti-bacterial hand sanitiser. Name says it all. Follow your little hashtag you keep posting. #weareallinthistogether That means us too!!! #uniquequalitycare #essentialstaff #alwaysininfectioncontrol #seeus See more

19.01.2022 Gladstone Fire and Rescue Service Station has a new tool on its Alpha and Kilo appliances, and its not a hose! The station is now trialling autism sensory trau...ma kits specifically designed to help firefighters communicate with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other communication difficulties during an emergency situation. Firefighter Jonathan Sutton was the driver behind the initiative and said each kit contained visual and hearing protection, sensory objects and communication boards. Having these kits on the truck can help us calm people down if they are experiencing distress from the situation. It also prompts us to think about whether anyone around is showing signs they might need some extra help or might be at risk. Its something thats very easy but helps us do our job better by serving the community better. It helps us to consider people who have specific needs or who might otherwise be overlooked," Jonathan said. A big shout out to Autism Queensland for its assistance in developing the kits! #WorldAutismAwarenessDay

17.01.2022 Urgent protection measures are in place after an increase of COVID-19 cases were reported in Queensland. In Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Scenic Rim, Somerset,... Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, and Redlands, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are limited to 10 people. Everywhere else, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are limited to 30 people. Venues and events following COVID Safe Industry Plans can continue operating. Visits to aged care and disability accommodation services in Greater Brisbane, Ipswich and surrounds will be limited. Emergency departments will be required to use PPE to treat all patients and hospital visitors will be limited as soon as possible. Please stay safe: maintain social distancing, keep up good hand hygiene and stay home if youre sick. #covid19
