19.01.2022 AND THIS IS WHY... Mental health in Australia..... . Mental illness is very common. Most of us will know someone experiencing mental illness, ... or even experience it ourselves, at some point in our life. The statistics on mental health in Australia are astounding. 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year 8 people in Australia die from suicide every day 60% of people living with mental illness will not seek help More people aged 15-44 die from suicide than cancer or road accidents 72% of males do not seek help for mental illness Indigenous people in Australia are twice as likely to die by suicide More than 2 million Australians suffer from anxiety If you want to help you can support our walk raising money for Essential research and support programs. . https://www.onefootforward.org.au/fundraiser/selenapirie

17.01.2022 Christmas can be a stressful time, but no matter what the external stressors, violence is never ok. If you need support, please call, email or chat online with our specialist practitioners. We are here for you http://safvcentre.org.au/webchat/ #familyviolence #sexualassault

16.01.2022 . Seven daily well-being check in questions to make sure you are ok. They bring your focus back to the present moment and keep you connected to self and others. Remember to only control what you can and let go of the stuff outside of your control. Take care of you

16.01.2022 This month, I'm taking on a challenge that really matters... I'll be walking 80km throughout Mental Health Month to make a difference to the lives of people touched by mental illness and suicide. I've already raised $1565.6 to help make mental health tools available for people living with mental illness. But today is World Mental Health Day, so I want to make the biggest impact possible to show people living with mental illness that they're not alone. I'd love if you could ...support me. 16.01.2022 I'll be walking 80km this October to raise funds for research, Mental Health awareness and suicide prevention. I invite you to sponsor me, or join my team as we raise some awareness for those struggling with mental health issues, showing them they are not alone! # #letstalk #stopthestigma #suicideprevention #mentalhealthmatters As some of you know, I have had a lifetime of physical and mental challenges with arthritis, so this will be another challenge that I am sure I can... conquer, all for a cause that I am passionate about. I would appreciate any support you can give me as our team try to increase awareness about mental health and raise money for mental health support services and research. So many people in need right now. Every step and donation will help those in need Thank you in advance for your support

15.01.2022 Making slow progress in the walk for mental health awareness. Slight hiccup on Friday when I didn’t listen to my body, tried to push through the pain and ended up with back spasms! 116kms last month has taken its toll. Rested up on Saturday Did smaller walk on Sunday ... Think I am back on track Lessons learned: listen to body; rest when fatigued; slow and steady wins the race; autoimmune disease sucks and I am stronger than it! See more

13.01.2022 Thank you to all of the people who have donated so far. Your contribution means a lot to me and to the people living with mental health challenges I have set a new $ target as we are still a month away from the challenge If you can spare a few dollars no matter how big or small, every little bit helps One coffee a day for a week = $25. ... $25 can pay for someone to do Mental health education in a school $40 can pay for a young Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to use the Black Dog Institute iBobbly wellbeing app. $70 can pay for 9 people to access Black Dog Institute MyCompass service which offers essential support to people living with mild depression and anxiety. How much is mental health worth to you? #mentalhealthmatters #endthestigma #blackdog #letstalk #youarenotalone See more

12.01.2022 Loved this story It’s about challenging the rules that we put in place in our world when we feel out of control. These rules cause us so much stress and pressure and keep us stuck. If you hear yourself saying I should or shouldn’t or I have to or I need to, ought to etc then it means you have rules that you have created to control your world. When you notice yourself saying these phrases, ask yourself who said I should or shouldn’t? What if I do and what if I don’t? ... Change the language to what do I choose or choose not to do? What do I actually want to do? Try it. It might just change your world! See more

11.01.2022 First day of October Mental Health Awareness Month and the One Foot Forward fundraising walk. Am so close to my $ target So thank you to those who have supported me . I managed a 4.1 km walk today in spite of an aching body and sore feet! 80kms here we come!

09.01.2022 The government says its putting $169mill into mental health and yet it will not allow highly trained, experienced and regulated Counsellors access to Medicare Australians need to have more choice in who they want to talk to about their mental health The system is swamped with huge waiting lists and people in urgent need of help and there are lots of trained Counsellors currently struggling to get enough clients It does not make sense to me When are we going to change this backward system?

06.01.2022 Feed Me Bellarine, Geelong and Surfcoast are asking for your help This wonderful charity have done the unimaginable during this pandemic They are now one of the top 5 food relief agencies in Victoria (all done in under a year) They have saved at least 24,000 kgs of food from landfill and prepared over 100,000 meals for people/families in need This does not happen without fearless leaders like Lana and Anthony, who work 20 hours a day, 7 days a week ... Also the hardworking, ever smiling, incredible volunteers who just keep on keeping on And of course it takes money to run the operations in 3 sheds, the vehicles, produce that we need to buy and so many more expenses PLEASE dig deep and donate anything you can afford to this amazing charity in your backyard https://gf.me/u/y5cfqm
