19.01.2022 What a great Spring State League season! Progression and development was the flavour of this State League endeavour. Every single week our teams built connections with each other and learnt how to play together as a unit, rather than a group of individuals. Over the last three months both teams have seen highs and lows, feeling the sinking feeling of losing on Universe point and the exhilaration of completing that one play that comes off absolutely perfectly. 07.01.2022 THE WEEKLY WRAP UP Both UniSA teams saw success this week in their finals! UniSA Div 2 took their second win of the season in a hotly contested game between Adelaide Uni. Big grabs were taken and team spirit ran high. Div 1 came up against Distressingly Indecisive and a must-win game to make it into the grand final. The intensity was incredible with UniSA able to hold on for the victory. Both teams have shown impressive improvements throughout the 11 weeks. How did you get into Ultimate? When I moved to Adelaide I was looking for things to meet people and came across the Unisa Ultimate club, went to a free outdoor training session, and have been hooked since. ... How long have you been playing Ultimate for? My first season was the Autumn Northern Ultimate Social League early in 2019, playing for WAU. What’s your favourite thing about Ultimate? How welcoming the community is as a whole compared to other sports, especially when starting out as a complete beginner. What’s a cherished memory you have from your time in Ultimate? Playing my first mixed hat tournament, Farcical Foes. The tournament is open to everyone and of all experience levels, with a mix of matches and a bunch of side games. It was the first time I got to experience playing with the broader Ultimate community and a great time getting to learn from some of the more experienced players in a fun light-hearted setting. What’s a fun fact about you? Growing up I was a bit of a band nerd playing the clarinet all through my years of schooling.

03.01.2022 THE WEEKLY WRAP UP Tonight was the last league game before finals fever kicks off next week! It was completely opposite conditions to last week, with the pouring rain and mud being swapped for humidity and mosquitos. Div 2 went down on universe point to Flinders after a closely fought game, and Div 1 was outclassed by AU Div 1 who are on an undefeated streak heading into the finals series. The next few weeks will be made of exciting frisbee!

02.01.2022 You may think you know resident memelord, tech guru and founder of our very own Discord server Alex Snow. We asked him a few questions to help you get to know him a little better! How did you get into Ultimate? Shortly after starting Uni I was looking for a sport to play after dropping all sport to focus on Year 12, and to also keep my fitness at a reasonable level going into the future. During O-Week with a friend, I saw the come and try poster for the City Social League a...nd decided to go with him to see what Ultimate was all about. Unfortunately, he decided to drop out last minute, but I still decided to go anyway and enjoyed it well enough to continue playing. How long have you been playing Ultimate for? The first Season I played was the 2017 Autumn City Social League, so a bit over three years now. What’s your favourite thing about Ultimate? Probably just the gameplay itself. Before playing Ultimate, I had only ever played water-sports, and the idea of running around on a field didn’t interest (or suit) me until I was able to see how unique the game was. What’s a cherished memory you have from your time in Ultimate? I really enjoyed my time in the 2018 University Mixed Ultimate Championships. Even though I had been playing for a decent amount of time at that point, being able to play in a properly structured and competitive tournament really let me experience the game in a different and enjoyable way. What’s a fun fact about you? When I was younger (admittedly not that young) I got a bolt nut stuck around finger and with the help of the fire brigade, had it removed by angle grinder in the hospital’s emergency ward. Alex mentioned he played a water sport in times past. What do you think that sport might be? Comment below your guesses!
