25.01.2022 Weve had some questions about why we're continuing to conduct planned outages in the context of the communitys response to COVID-19. Planned maintenance is an essential part of how we manage our network. Planned outages allow our crews to safely maintain the electricity network so we can keep delivering reliable power to homes and businesses. By doing this planned work today or over coming weeks, we are reducing the risk of unplanned blackouts in the future.... You can find our full statement as well as advice on food safety and what to do in a planned outage here: https://www.unitedenergy.com.au/media-statement-regarding-/
25.01.2022 Tonights strong wind storm has brought down trees and branches onto powerlines, causing multiple power outages across Melbournes south eastern suburbs and the Mornington Peninsula. We have extra crews on board and they are working as safely and as quickly as possible to get power back on to more than 16,000 customers, including about 24,000 between Ringwood and Box Hill. Already, crews have restored power to more than 33,000 customers. At this stage, there are more than 97 ...separate faults on our network, including 12 powerlines down. We know how difficult it is to be without power, particularly during this current lockdown. Our crews will continue working into the night to restore power for customers. If you do see a fallen powerline, please always stay well away from them and report them to us immediately on 13 20 99. We will keep customers updated on estimated restoration times by text message and also online at www.unitedenergy.com.au

23.01.2022 Its going to be windy for parts of our network today. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds. Outdoor items flying loose in strong winds can bring down powerlines and cause power outages just as much as trees and fallen branches.... #melbourneweather
22.01.2022 We know that many of you want more flexibility when it comes to your power. Thats why in Black Rock we recently installed a pole-mounted battery for the local community to share. This is an Australian first and will allow homes and businesses to use power from the battery when demand spikes on the local network and solar systems are no longer generating. You can find out more about the project: www.unitedenergy.com.au/bayside-battery... Bayside City Council, Victoria

20.01.2022 Like everyone, this is our first experience of a pandemic. If you see our teams wearing face masks, please be assured that theyre wearing them to protect their health and yours. As an essential service, occasionally our crews may deem it safer to briefly remove masks while conducting high-risk activities, such as working on live powerlines, when clear communication is essential, as determined through OH&S guidelines.... This is in line with advice from the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services. Were balancing the need to ensure we keep our community and people safe, with the need to help keep our networks running. Further information on our response to the COVID-19 pandemic can be found at: https://www.unitedenergy.com.au/safety/covid-19/
20.01.2022 For those homes still without power following Thursdays storms, do you know what to do to keep your food safe? Check out our tips below. Only open fridge and... freezer doors when absolutely necessary, this will keep the food and air temperature colder for longer. If food is still cold to touch, less than 5C, it is safe to use. Move food from the fridge to the freezer. Once cold or frozen food is no longer cold to touch, 5c or above, it can be kept and eaten for up to 4 hours and then it must be thrown away. If its raw meat, it should be cooked and eaten. 20.01.2022 Last month team members from United Energy Marie Kondod their wardrobes during isolation, donating any warm winter items in good condition to the Avalon Centre. Donating to the Avalon Centre means were supporting a small charity that is run solely by volunteers and donations, providing warm clothing, blankets and sleeping bags to people who are disadvantaged, mainly those who are living on the streets, living in low economic conditions or who are asylum seekers. For th...ose doing it rough on our streets there is nowhere to escape the harshness of winter and with the current challenging economic climate, this is an incredibly difficult time. 19.01.2022 Were proud to be partnering with Origin Energy as part of an electric vehicle smart charging trial to learn how future electric vehicle uptake will affect the energy network. One hundred and fifty charging stations will be rolled out across Australia, including in the United Energy Network. The trial aims to improve the appeal of electric vehicles by shifting charging times to off-peak periods when energy prices are low. By taking part, well gain insight into the benefit...s and challenges of EVs on our network so we can continue supporting our customers as they invest in this new technology. 09.01.2022 We often get asked why a power outage might impact you but not your neighbour or people down the street well heres a few possible reasons: Your house might be supplied by a different feeder from the Zone Sub Station. There can be as many as three different phases on the poles in your street. You might get power from one of the phases and your neighbour a different one. A problem down the street impacting just one phase could be keeping power off for all homes attached... to it, but the other two phases may be OK. There might be an issue with the service wire connecting your property. 04.01.2022 We’ve kicked off a project to move nearly 600m of existing HV overhead powerlines underground in Valley Views Lane, Main Ridge - that’s more than three times the length of the MCG! We’ve identified nearly 55 trees that have the potential to impact reliability to the area due to its large pine trees near several spans of overhead lines. These overhead lines will be replaced with a hybrid underground systemcomprising HV underground cables, poles and pole type transformers, eliminating the bushfire risk resulting from large pine trees collapsing onto the bare HV overhead conductors.
