20.01.2022 Dear United Neighbours family, our team has been hard at work plotting and scheming our next moves with this beautiful network we’ve created, focusing on how we can support each other better through this difficult time. Through some personal hard hits as well as conversations we’ve been having with friends and family, it’s clear that this unique time in our human experience has affected our community in a myriad of ways. We understand that disconnection, loneliness and isol...ation can have a profound impact on our mental health. Our intention is to learn more so we can support and uplift each other in these trying times and beyond. We’ve developed a quick, ANONYMOUS questionnaire to help us understand better. We will use this information to formulate a game plan which will help us in our mission to developing a well-connected community that supports one another. Please take a few minutes to fill it out, it would mean the world to us https://bit.ly/2VDYp6I Stay tuned in our United Neighbours Community for updates

13.01.2022 United Neighbours was created with the intention of helping those in need in these difficult and uncertain times brought on by COVID19. Our first initiative - The Letter Love Drop is being deployed throughout Melbourne in the 3rd week of March 2020. More than 60+ courageous youths have put forth their numbers to be the point of call for the elderly or those with vulnerable health conditions should they need medications, groceries or urgent errands run during isolation. For th...ose that don’t have the support of loved ones, as friendly neighbours, we are here to lend a helping hand. This group was created for us to share updates, experiences and inspiration with one another. We’re stronger as a team #unitedneighbours Join our community here United Neighbours Community

07.01.2022 Dear United Neighbours family, Regulations are getting more and more strict and we’d like to address how these may or may not affect our neighborhood letter drop initiative. To cut a long story short, we recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, chuck on some active wear and go for a brisk walk whilst dropping off flyers. How we understand the restrictions in VIC and what they mean for us:... - You are only allowed out of the house for essential trips with only ONE person with you at the approved social distance of 1.5m apart. In this regard, if you want to do flyers with friends, we think that’s cool. However, our responsibility is to advise that you should, at the least, both be doing opposite sides of the road to maintain that appropriate social distance. This is also a very effective/efficient way to conquer the streets so if practiced properly we are ALL about it! - Light exercise is allowed which absolutely includes a walk throughout suburban streets; we believe this speaks for itself. Walking and mail dropping is a form of light exercise. Win, win. - Over 70-year olds are encouraged to self-isolate which is precisely why our United Neighbours initiative is so important. It saddened us to think that people are stuck at home knowing that there are things they need and can’t get. This was (and still is) our biggest action point and truly highlights how we feel about the current climate. - If anyone has just returned back into the country, they are required to be in self isolate for 14 days. The onus is definitely on our UN team to make sure all volunteers are following this rule and we are doing our best to ensure this is being adhered to. Please remember that our mission is to help, not harm! - The Stay at home period began midnight 30th March which means all of this is relevant now. - Medical/compassionate reasons to leave the home extend to include providing care and support to a relative or other person such as shopping for someone because of their old age, infirmity, disability, sickness, chronic health condition or because they may be pregnant or have health concerns. - There are no limits on the time of day you can leave the house as long as the reasons are captured in the 4 reasons to leave home of which United Neighbours is one. - There is no restriction on volunteer work at this time but it is absolutely necessary that all guidelines are followed (namely physical distancing). Full list of restrictions here www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-stay-home-and-restricted-ac Please take care during this time! We are all trying to do our bit and we are so grateful for the epic pool of volunteers we have thus far <3 #UnitedNeighbours
