23.01.2022 Here is an update from the previously posted Australian Taekwondo Web Story about the difference taekwondo can make when implemented into the school system. The way the program works The instructor / coach runs an inspirational lesson which places the children into a state of listening and learning. Then sit them down and share a Master Paul story. I have put together 10 lesson plans with a new story each lesson. They get so excited to hear a life changing story that really h...appened. You then give them the opportunity to help another person and see the difference they can make. At a local Sydney School I ran a 8 week program and at the end we saw a 70% reduction in bullying. The comment from the deputy principal at the time "Bullying is at a manageable level". Just loved hearing those words. Currently there are 45 million recorded bullying incidents in Australia each year. This analysis has identified that the costs associated with bullying total an estimated $2.3 billion, incurred while the children are in school and for 20 years after school completion, for each individual school year group. The estimated costs are experienced by individuals, families and communities and can be broken into two components: 1. By the time each student cohort has completed its schooling years (generally this is 13 years), victims of bullying, perpetrators, their families, schools and the community will have experienced an estimated $525 million in costs associated with bullying. 2. After school completion, the consequences of bullying continue and are estimated to cost $1.8 billion for each single cohort of students over a period of 20 years. This is driven by impacts to productivity, chronic health issues, and impacts on family and the community from continued bullying behaviour that can extend to violence. So how do you protect your child? After all, you cannot be there and nor should youevery moment of the day. How do you support your child and offer them a peaceful solution to a better life? Imagine if you could send your child to school secure in the knowledge that they will receive a great education, meet new friends, and develop the confidence to be successful in all areas of life. Now would not that be refreshing! The inner strength to achieve those ideals does not only come from martial arts many children have it already. But what of the children who do not? I believe that we need Taekwondo Kickstarters Program in all Public Schools throughout Australia and overtime the difference will filter into our high schools, universities and workplace. Children are encouraged and inspired to give back to community in a meaningful way. Now wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in. NOTE: I will never stop looking for a solution.

23.01.2022 Another fantastic pushup challenge from Chief Instructor :)

23.01.2022 I will never pass down an opportunity to share my passion in life, besides the love for my family, I can't thank Australian Taekwondo, enough for reinforcing, through my words, the need to build unity in our school system. (Click on link or photo below for the full interview) As parents we want to see our children enjoy going to school, build lasting friendships and develop the confidence to be successful in ALL areas of life, but currently, our children are spending too much... time trying to avoid confrontation, leaving less time for learning. Statistically: UN agency ranks Australia 39 out of 41 countries for quality education as our students are falling behind in basic measures of teaching and learning. We need to "Build People Not Fighters". We need to encourage our future leaders to want to contribute back to society in a meaningful way and understand that a little kindness goes a long to build friendships that last the test of time. What a wonderful place that would be!

22.01.2022 Scarlet's board breaks from last night

On the 9th March I will be interviewed an...d one of the questions that they will be asking will be. What is our point of difference compared to other martial arts? What makes us special? 22.01.2022 Chief Instructor Brett is kicking off a weekly push-up challenge. This is week 1 so now's the time to get started and have a go.

21.01.2022 On Saturday just passed, I was lucky enough to grade for my 1st Degree Black Belt in front of our Master Instructor Master Paul Mitchell. After an injury scare before I started and a few slip ups, I passed and got my black belt. To say I'm proud is an understatement, I love this family and want to share it with as many people as possible. To Master Paul, thank you so much for your help and support for me opening my Dojang and to your beautiful wife Kay for everything she has done to help me too, It is very much appreciated. To Chief Instructor Brett and Branch Instructor Sharon, I can't begin to thank you for all the extra training and your belief in me and our dream here in Hobart. This is just the beginning and I'm excited for the future of United Taekwondo Hobart.

20.01.2022 As I'm sure everyone heard the Prime Minister say last night that community centres and gatherings of people (besides schools) are to no longer go ahead. So while it saddens me immensely to do this, it is for our students health and safety and the safety of our families. United Taekwondo Hobart has cancelled all training sessions until the corona virus has gone from the community and it is safe to train again. I wish our community safety and good health and I look forward to starting training again once the virus has gone. Branch Instructor Josh

20.01.2022 I promised today that I would upload some youtube video's of the patterns we are learning at the moment, here they are: Chon Ji - https://youtu.be/ruwbwr_Weqg Dan Gun - https://youtu.be/B0J2u5Koyjc... A good time to get in that extra practice before the grading in 2 weeks time :) enjoy!

19.01.2022 Our illustrious Master Paul is taking on Cancer Council’s The Longest Day... the ultimate golfing challenge to complete four rounds of golf in one day. That’s 72 holes! He’ll be testing his skill, strength and stamina to raise funds for Cancer Council with other members of United Taekwondo! Because Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70 and he wants to help change this. Anyone who trials a UTKD lesson on 15 Oct in the South Hobart Dojang, UTKD will donate $10 on their behalf to The Longest Day Cancer Council Fundraiser

02.01.2022 Lugarno Public School Personal Development Program I have a dream that children should enjoy going to school, build lasting friendships and develop the confidence to be successful in life. This program was developed to make a dream come true. What you will listen too are some of the stories we share and how we build people not fighters and give them the gift of confidence, a gift for life.

01.01.2022 This has been shared on a few different martial arts pages recently. An important reminder about the respect and attitude that comes with all martial arts training.
