24.01.2022 We just had some sad news, one of our members was in a 2 truck accident at Kyancutta. Lucky both drivers are alive, but Christopher has been badly injured, we all wish him a speedy recovery. Thank you Wayne (his dad) for phoning us to let us know. Just want to say the industry work hard, every time we jump behind the wheel it’s a risk to get home safely for all of us. We absolutely need to bring back that highway industry mateship attitude in our industry to help & care abou...t each other. Too many complex regulations? Is the Chain of Responsibility working? Does the CoR accountability focus on driver and transport organistaion? Fatigue Management does Work Diary work for long distance driving? Should we be entitled to longer fatigue exemption to get home or service centre for long breaks? If a Route is approved for a combination should we all be able to have 1 rule for all? Should we pay different Prime Mover Vehicle Registration costs for varied combinations? Should all equipment Vehicle Registrations be consistent not vary with combinations? Are the fine amounts getting out of control and not sustainable? Are we the hardest and highest regulated industry sector in the nation? Is Mass Management and PBS working for entire industry? Does the industry sector need uniformed Standards for Licencing? Do the regulations change when you cross the jurisdiction boarders? Are there major issues with limited or unsatisfactory Parking Bays nationally? Are there high risks with lack of education and inexperienced driver(s) with licences? Is Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) too complex?
