25.01.2022 PANDEMIC PIVOT - The newly developed 'Playgroup in a bag' kits were a total success! Our wonderful Community Impact Facilitator Melanie Bye dropped these kits off at Anzac Park yesterday about 9.15am and the first parent and child arrived to get one before she even walked away from the box. Another two families joined in before she drove off, and all 30 were gone by about 11am! A lot of families have said how thankful they were for the kits, and three have shared photos of... their kids creations. Pandemic pivot declared a total success!

Some companies are using it for team building, others for the trophy. At the end of the day the kids are the winners. Being aired as a game show hosted by Richard Bayliss, it boasts 7 zoom calls, produced in a TV studio, 10 independent judges, 8 challenges, in a never been done before format. 21.01.2022 Today 7 corporate teams with 35 participants from local Macquarie Park businesses performed challenges including burpees, sit ups, star jumps, riddles and trivia competing for a years worth of bragging rights. It was heartwarming seeing so many people in their lounge rooms, gardens or parks fighting it out for corporate glory! Congrats to Optus for bringing home the virtual trophy! We raised vital funds for children around the Macquarie Park business centre. Thanks @Richard Bayliss, host extraordinaire and @Corrivium for your huge contribution. 16.01.2022 Spending time reading together as a family is a great way to spend time in isolation. For families on Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Australia this is easy with the gift of a book being mailed to homes throughout the isolation period. Some families would have received the incredible book Hair Love in March, which inspired an Oscar winning short film! A fun way to further engage with the book, is to watch the film.

A huge shout out to KICS (Katherine Isolated Children's Service) for helping us distribute these packs to students at Yarralin and Bulman Schools!

13.01.2022 Families in the Ryde LGA are still getting some of the fun of playgroup despite COVID-19 restrictions. Since April we have been dropping 'Playgroup in a Bag' kits in Anzac Park for families to collect and take home. We put together 50 kits each fortnight that include various activity supplies including home-made playdough, painting, sensory play, and lots of different craft and colouring activities. Weve also been able to include Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Australia books with information for families. Rain or shine the 50 kits are all gone every Wednesday, showing how much families appreciate these packs. Families tell us they look forward to the packs and the social connection of going to the park to collect them, even if we do have to maintain social distancing and ensure were following all precautions.

Determined to keep the United Way Cup successful to support local communities, our corporate partners put on their thinking caps. Goodbye soccer tournament. Hello first of its kind online game show with contestants and a virtual audience. Competing from their lounge rooms, local parks, and gardens, our contestants did sit ups, burpees, star jumps, United Way trivia, and a fire round vying for a virtu...al trophy. Despite the odd technical glitch and awkward camera angle, our contestants fought hard, laughed and joined together for something bigger than themselves. They say they are in it to win it, but we know they are all winners, as are the families that will continue to receive the gift of reading due to their generousity of spirit. 07.01.2022 In one hour we raised more than $55,000 and submitted 616 jumping photos from more than 28 organisations for our Guinness World Records attempt. It looks like we are very well placed to become world record holders! From backyards and offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Tamworth and all the way to NY, Chicago and Paris, everyone was JUMPING ON BOARD. The funds raised will help us bring the magic of the Imagination Library to more families, ensuring they have the literacy skills the...y need to succeed in school and life. We couldn’t have asked for more of a team effort from our fabulous sponsors, to our amazing Macquarie Park community and our wonderful jumpers.
