22.01.2022 Another great day with the superstar Bankwest volunteers and awesome HOPE Inc crew! Over the last decade, Bankwest employees volunteer their time to create and serve a communal luncheon, once a month, for over 150 people experiencing homelessness in Perth. There's a real sense of camaraderie and joy for both volunteers and guests at these social luncheons and we really missed them over CV-19. Check out the other CSR opportunities we co-ordinate through our tireless community partners for your own team experience.https://www.unitedwaywa.com.au/partnerships/corporate/
21.01.2022 We love our interns at United Way WA, sadly Henat's time has come to an end Henat has been an absolute lifesaver over the last couple of months and we would like to say a big thank you for all your great work. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours! Here are a few words from Henats time with us. I started my internship with UWWA in March because I wanted to learn more about how not-for-profits work and to make a contribution to the community I live in.... Over the last 3 months, I have gained valuable life and work skills and most importantly I have gained a stronger understanding of how to contribute to our community. I realised that during challenging times community members that face disadvantage become even more vulnerable. It is our role as active citizens to help where we can. Henat Brar. See more

05.01.2022 Doorstep Dinners shows what true collaboration in the community can achieve in times of crisis. Rewind back to March 2020 and in a whirlwind couple of weeks, St. Patrick's Community Support Centre, Rise Network, Fremantle Chamber of Commerce and United Way WA came together with the idea of reaching people in need through COVID. 3 months on and the meal tally is about to hit 15,000! The power of Living United is alive and well!
05.01.2022 As WA's state ambassadors for Paint the Town REaD we are excited to share PTTR's latest fun initiative: 'REaD and Sing with Me at Home' Supported by the Hon. Linda Hurley (Wife of the Governor-General) So, what's it all about?... Building on the Were Going On A Bear Hunt Australia concept of having teddies in the window Paint the Town REaD is asking families to decorate their front fence or letterbox in red splotches and a picture of their mascot so that when families walk past it, they will be prompted to: look for the teddy bear/s in the window, and read and sing with their children at home or even out on their walk! Why are we doing it? to provide families and their communities with the reminder to keep reading and singing with their children at home to provide new activities for families to do at home reading with parent/s helps children feel safe, singing helps them feel happy. to build new connections in local communities See the video below for some creative inspiration! https://www.facebook.com/paintparkesread/videos/163915511645394/
05.01.2022 Thanks to Soroptimist International - Perth, Australia and their generous donation, children in the Clarkson/ Merriwa area will have access to quality age-appropriate books in their homes. Carers will also have the supports and information to provide the best start for their children every day through talking, reading, singing, rhyming, drawing and playing with children from birth. By age 3, children born into lower-income families can hear roughly ‘30 million fewer words’ t...han children from higher income families. Research tells us that children who know a greater variety of words before 5 are less likely to be left behind once they begin school. United Way WA early literacy programs support families to increase their children’s exposure to language in the first 3 years.
