22.01.2022 This week we’re celebrating National NAIDOC Week and recognising this year’s theme 'Always Was, Always Will Be', which acknowledges that our First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We’re also proud to launch our second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), ‘Innovate’. It builds on our initiatives from the last two years and formalises our ongoing commitment to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. #NAIDOC2020 Pictured: Members of our RAP Working Group in front of an Acknowledgement of Country plaque at our Northern Service Centre. 17.01.2022 Take a (porcelain) seat, it’s story time! To celebrate World Toilet Day, we launched Harold the Hungry Toilet, a new children’s book about what should and shouldn’t go down the loo We had lots of fun (and a few giggles ) reading it at Maroochydore Library. 13.01.2022 Today we’re celebrating International Mens Day and the wonderful male role models in our community, including Ashley, our Scientific Services Manager. Outside of work, for the last five years, he has coached at Albany Creek Excelsior Football Club who his two sons play for. It also happens to be his boyhood club and where he played as a senior. He believes team sports are an important way to help develop male role models of the future. These community clubs all rely on volunteers, and having so many great memories growing up I wanted to give back and help the next generation to enjoy the game like I do. Ashley said. #InternationalMensDay #TalkingAboutMen

12.01.2022 Forget #TacoTuesday, to us it's #CheckForLeaksTuesday It's really important to check your property for a hidden or concealed leak. If you have one and it's not detected early, it could cost thousands of dollars in lost water and repairs. We recommend that you check for leaks every few weeks. How to check: 1 Turn off all taps and appliances that use water.... 2 Read your water meter and write down the numbers or take a photo. 3 Wait at least one hour before reading your water meter again - remember not to use any water, even to flush the toilet. 4 If the reading has changed (last numbers or dial on the water meter), you may have a water leak. Please contact a licensed plumber to investigate. More: www.unitywater.com/leaks
