Every day around 350 Australians are diagnosed with cancer, and the Cancer Council's Beat Cancer Project has one vision to bring us closer than ever to a future without cancer. Today is Daffodil day, and volunteers from the Cancer Council will be around the city with merchandise available for purchase. 07.01.2022 Today South Australia Police officers swore the White Ribbon oath. The event marks a week before White Ribbon Day, a campaign which aims to stop violence agains...t women. White Ribbon invites men to swear an oath to stand up, speak out and act to prevent men's violence against women. The White Ribbon Oath is a commitment to promote positive attitudes and behaviours towards women and, when needed, intervene safely to prevent violence against women. Held at the Police Academy, about 150 officers and cadets formed the symbol of the white ribbon and took an oath to stand against domestic violence. Following the oath, they all shouted NO to domestic violence. SAPOL provides timely contact, support and referral for assistance to domestic violence victims where patrols have arrested or reported the offender, irrespective of the level of risk. Across the state police work with other agencies such as Families SA, Housing, Corrections, Education, Health, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services, Victim Support Service and local domestic violence services to provide a coordinated response to domestic violence victims. Police encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact them immediately for assistance. If you know someone who is the victim of domestic violence then make a stand.
